About
The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is a narrative-driven RPG that comes to life on the pages of the protagonist's journal. Set in a ruthless world where any form of dissent is mercilessly crushed, the story follows a man who has dared to challenge the existing order. Set out on a lifelong journey and become an individual able to carve out their own destiny... But remember that freedom never comes cheap.
Life in the Great Arknian Empire is harsh and its hardest Lot is yours by the circumstance of birth. You are a commoner, holding no rights and no title. To seize your fate and become the rightful heir to the legacy of the Brante family you will have to come to grips with ossified tradition and prejudice. Embarking on a life-long journey from one's birth until true death, you will have to endure great upheavals, face adversity, and make many difficult choices. Every decision will affect not only the protagonist, his family, and loved ones, but may even topple the foundation of the Empire itself.

At the turn of time
Every imperial citizen's life is predetermined by their estate. The deities known as the Twin Gods have bestowed this truth to the world, dividing mortals into Lots. The nobles lead and rule over others, while the clergy guides people on the one true path, and the lowborn suffer, toiling away for the glory of the Empire. You may accept your fate without question, but it is also in your power to change the cosmic order that governs all.

Your choice is not an illusion
Divided into chapters, the game keeps track of the player's deeds, the skills they acquired, as well as other overlapping circumstances that shape a unique plotline for each playthrough. Every decision has its consequences and you will be held accountable throughout the entire journey. To protect your family and loved ones, to impose the rule of the Emperor and make a fortune, or to try and change the world as you see fit... Make your choice, but beware of the follies of pride and ambition.

Fight for your life
One man is anything but omnipotent in this realm yet under your guidance, Sir Brante may become a person who can endure every trial fate throws at him and rewrite the very laws that govern his world! Develop and train your character, leveling up such traits as determination, sensitivity, and endurance. All of the hero's skills, starting with those acquired in infancy, will affect his personality, worldview, and relationships, ultimately unlocking new talents and possible storylines.

Find your own path
The first complete walkthrough can take you upwards of 15 hours! Numerous branching paths that affect the unfolding story will make every playthrough a unique experience: become a noble judge, learn the ways of the inquisition, plot a revolution as a member of a secret society, or embrace an entirely different purpose. Be brave and fate itself shall bend to your will!

There and hereafter
Resurrection system allows the character to keep his experience upon death, letting the player reevaluate past steps and make adjustments to their strategy going forward. Take control not only of your life but also your demise, then put everything at stake in this cycle of death and rebirth!

Recomendado. [Opinión con los logros 100% completados]
I really wanted to like this game and at first thought it was a real evolution of the choice game genre (shout out to the Infinity series). On my first playthrough I was greeted with an amazing hook, a beautiful world and compelling characters that engaged me. Tet the ludonarrative of the game goes too far into its purpose of suffering; gameplay and story decisions in Chapter IV constantly clash with the purpose of a choice game, with there being far too many hard or downright illogical up-to-that-moment decisions you are railroaded into. I thought at first this was because I was playing on ironman mode; but upon replaying the game in standard mode I got to see how baffling the stat rewards, and in the case of the priest, skill priorities are. Why, when you are a priest, is divinity not rewarded so much as eloquence and cunning? I believe this a narrative decision to make commentary on the church, that priests are using their interpretations of faith to manipulate people for their own end (in much the same way as we saw during the reformation). Yet that makes no sense to me, as we are shown that "They" are real in TLSSB, there are numerous times where They directly interfere, why not positive interference for a max rank priest who is only level 10 at speeches? This led me to assume that the game was just poorly developed on the religious path, so I then began a Noble run, suspecting it as the intended route. Indeed I think it's definitely better fleshed out, gameplay wise, than priest; there is an easier and more logical way to raise your skills, and the skills you require make more sense. The problem is the game makes no interesting comments about the nobility at all besides mirroring the trend of feudal revolts of old; namely that while nobility is bad, if you remove it forthwith then the radicalism that replaces it turns out to be no better. Chapter IV is also even more psychotically min-maxed and difficult; again the ludonarrative is too extreme here. Why are you told the chapter is nearly at an end when you have 2+ hours of the game throwing misery and suffering at you even though you could end the arc then and there? It's utterly illogical from a narrative perspective (outside of, again, masochistic difficulty due to the name of the game). Even then I still really see a future for this game with some changes, please learn from more kinetic VNs for example and give us dialogue skips if we must go through an entire chapter again. Additionally, please learn from other choice games; the skill locks and punishing difficult should be at the start, not the end. The entire joy of the final chapters of choice games is to reward your stat blocking in early game brute force to actually enact your own *choice*, as it is the game is far too difficult, even moreso than Sabres of Infinity (which the author recognises is far too difficult and as such has toned down in later editions). Unfortunately, without those changes and as much artistic merit as the game does poses, it simply is an exercise in misery to engage with and try to explore. Would, sadly, not recommend.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Poland over the last 30 days: the 21 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 12 places towards #1, and the 2,501 moves with no price cut behind them went 1 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Got this great 'Choose your own adventure' style interactive fiction on a free giveaway. Set in a rigid hierarchical empire where the Gods are very real and assign everybody a "Lot", a person's ordained destiny and social class, from birth and people can die up to three times before reaching their 'True Death'. Nobles rule over the population, Priests preach and the Commoners fate is to suffer and toil for the Nobles. The story takes place over five chapters, covering your birth and childhood and your adulthood and the events that shake the empire. For each Lot there are two paths; Empire and Rebel. The first 2 and half chapters follow a shared path then you select the Lot route and during the fourth (and very long) chapter you lean yourself towards Empire or Rebel. I enjoyed it overall and thought the story and writing were pretty good, with interesting world building and difficult moral dilemmas. There's an Ironman mode (which prevents you from being able to restart from the current or past chapters) and another option to hide choice consequences (which prevents you from seeing what a choice will do). You might want to try with the hidden consequences for a run or two but it's definitely easier to play without it. This is very much a 'stat' management game; if you select options that don't work towards your goal or your Lot requires you can get into unwinnable situations where you can only die as your stats aren't high enough to trigger other choices. This can lead to disconnects if you want to role play more as that might mean picking the 'wrong' option. Unfortunately, there's no way to fast skip text automatically, you have to manually spam keys and click the mouse. Available choices can get heavily restricted in the late stages of the game too. The game is also a chore to 100% as it requires a lot of playthroughs with many special, conflicting events especially in chapter 4 that you need as well as some events with very tight paths to actually accomplish. 8.5/10
The game bad. The story is good and engaging. I recommended it for some people. This game deserves a Maybe instead of a Yes/No. "edit: Oh yeah, the "game" loves fake choices too it seems. Do something minorly positive now that later gives huge negatives. Or something thats bad now and randomly would have worked out GREAT later. Its full of these "gotchas". It not dealing fairly. You might as well randomize your choices, so i dont see the point of the option to give you info on what a choice does." It have so many choices but its still a railroad. I went into it blind. Very quickly i decided upon 2 things, very simple, i figured choices would screw me over if i cared about too many things so i just set my sights on 2 things. Support Stephen and myself/church. (Did this in act 1) I figured a two folded approach to bring power to myself and him and our family by being in two pillars of the three making up society. I saw the timeline that there would be a revolution at the end no matter what so fine. Grow powerful and throw everyone else aside, be it other family or friends or whatever. Yet at every point i was denied growth in myself or the church, and later choices that would improve it for the both of us was locked for some reason. I felt entirely railroaded the entire time, as if my choices didnt matter at all. After a while i put on the option to see the outcome of my choices. Yet everything wasnt shown after choices. Many times there came aditional bonuses or negatives of choices beyond the ones shown. It feels like the game is not playing fair despite saying it will. So i just started fast forwording to choices just to see where things were going. It just kept screwing me over. Choices to grow in theology and eloquence was simply locked out. I kept getting points in the things i didnt need... like a choice said id grow in favor with my brother and then i got bonuses to valor or manipulations. Things i didnt care about... The game is so limited in what it allows you to do. There were so many options that were greyed out that would help me/church or my brother but i wasnt allowed to pick them and instead i was forced to go with something pointless... like giving me more Will which i had an abundance off already or give a point in favor to a character i couldnt care less about. It felt like the game railroaded me into getting in love/having relationships with character i wanted to give ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about. Its a railroad story game, i dont get to give a damn about character i dont give a damn about. I dont get to sacrifice people i dotn give a ♥♥♥♥ about. In DnD terms it feels like im dealing with a DM that is hellbent on telling their story regardless of what i want. Was it too much to ask to have 2 goals? Support a brother whenever possible, and progress myself at the cost of everyone else? Ive never been denied such a simple set of goals in a game before. Am i only allowed 1 goal? If so the game is utter ♥♥♥♥ really, its just a novel in the guise of a game, im almost done with Act 4. My expectations are trash atm.
Welchen Lebensweg will man einschlagen? Eines der Spiele wo man wirklich das Gefühl hat, die Geschichte mitzuschreiben. Top!
A fun choose-your-own-adventure game, but much like the books, you can fall into plenty of pitfalls and have your run fall apart after hours of playing. The game is meant to be played multiple times, and you should definitely go in blind on your first playthrough before looking at a guide for help.
