About
The Lies We Tell Ourselves is an episodic first person psychological action-adventure game with introspective/horror elements and a focus on subtle storytelling and atmosphere.
An action-adventure experience that can be enjoyed by horror and non-horror fans.
Each episode is a carefully crafted blend of narrative, puzzles, exploration and even boss fights.
A weird, rich story arc, with enough subtlety to let players build their own interpretation and meaning.
Challenging but fair puzzles that require observation, understanding and a bit of abstraction to be solved.
Mature and disturbing themes, but handled with respect and tact, rather than just for shock value.
Each episode offers around 2 hours worth of gameplay which builds on the main story arc.
Step into the world of Vincent Arno, a man whose comfortable life is shattered on his 27th birthday, when a mysterious presence challenges his true nature.
Explore Vincent's complex adult personality shaped by past choices, guiding him through a surreal introspective odyssey of self-discovery and moral ambiguity.
Uncover hidden truths in this thought-provoking adventure where the boundary between perception and reality is as fragile as the lies we tell ourselves.

NICE!
https://youtu.be/__xYrQPOCBk Despite having a few compelling twists and turns the lack of cohesion between scenes takes it toll from too many different threads.

I enjoyed the slower nature of the puzzles and the thought required to solve some of them (only had to use a guide once lol). Would recommend for people who enjoy theorycrafting as they play but also enjoy something different than the fast-paced nature of some other games.
Very touching story, got immersed fairly quickly. Hooked to see what the next chapter holds.
Plays excellent for a Unity game, that is rare, it must be very well optimised i suppose, thank you devs, puzzles are a bit on the harder side but very rewarding when you do them, gorgeous graphics and i can relate to the story, good game so far.
I had already selected 8 games in the fanatical bundle that included this one, and adding a 9th game literally brought the price down from 16.60 to 16.20, so for $-0.40 I HAD to check this out given the player vs developer drama happening on the reviews page. I should have checked the disk space requirements because 17GB is craaaazy but I've finally downloaded it and clocked 5 minutes of playtime setting up my video/controls (boo on the insanely slow walking speed btw, I get it's slow-paced but this is ri-DIC-ulous). I'm leaving a negative review because I think it will piss the dev off, and they definitely need a thicker skin than that. People are going to leave negative reviews for totally unjustified reasons and you probably aren't going to win anyone over with a rebuttal in the comments of those reviews. If your game is good it'll shine through in the aggregate. Poopsy, if you manage to keep developing and release the second episode in spite of the critics, leave a comment and I'll flip this to positive for your persistence. 2025 update: bro, I cannot. interact with bust. watch a cutscene. interact with bust. watch a cutscene. interact with bust. watch a cutscene. interact with bust. watch a cutscene.
