About
Lured in by shared nightmares, madmen travel to a remote island crowned by a silent Tower. No one remembers the journey.
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint is an open world RPG built around exploration and connection. You learn the land by walking it, following rumors, reading scraps of burned history, and meeting lost souls who wandered to the ends of the Earth, following the same feverish dream of a light buried beneath the Tower.
Somewhere in the depths is a theater with an empty stage, waiting for an audience. As you repair or ruin the lives of the island's inhabitants, the phantoms they leave behind take their seats in the audience. The more seats you fill, the more the island listens, and the greater the applause for your final act.
And if you don’t want to descend alone, you don’t have to. The entire game is fully playable in co-op: explore the island together, delve into the depths for treasures, and make the choices that will decide the fate of everyone on the island, and beyond...
A wild, ancient island to explore
Follow leads, find shortcuts into the Tower, stumble into side stories, and piece together what is real and what is mere delusion.
Open Ended
Most quests have multiple resolutions. Mercy, violence, compromise, deceit.
A large cast of bizarre characters
Many strange folk find their home on the island. A giant toad learning to read. An ancient skeleton who just wants to swim. A musician from a faraway land hunts for something precious. Everyone has a theory for why you’re here. None of them agree.
The Amphitheater
Your choices change the world. Treat others with kindness and generosity, and a trusted friend will take their seat in your audience. Fail or abuse them, and something darker takes their place. The House fills either way.
Visceral Combat with multiple weapon types
Punchy combat against strange horrors
Full co-op
Play the whole game together. Explore the world, share the spoils, and decide who you will become, because the consequences belong to all of you.
The Tower does not call the whole. It calls the broken, the wanting.
Fill the seats. Start the performance. Find out what is buried at the bottom of the well.

great game but will definitely benefit from more dev time, more npcs and more quests. also when this review was written splitscreen isnt entirely functionable but as its still in beta i cant complain
The game is super fun, runs smooth most of the time, and as a Morrowind fan, I love the spell system so far. The devs are also actively patching the game, which is confidence inspiring to say the least, because as the other reviews say, it is on the buggier side. If you can put up with a bit of jank, and if you are a fan of the "Scrolls-like" genre, I'd say it's probably worth a try.

I'm not going to lie, this was a pleasant surprise of a game and it 1000% scratches the itch of an Elder Scrolls game. Obviously it just getting released and it also being early access means it has some issues but I have yet to run into a game breaking or even immersion breaking issue. I always wondered what multiplayer would be like in Elder Scrolls but I didn't imagine it would be this fun. The developers seem to be very on top of things and releasing patches at a very quick rate. I highly highly highly recommend this game if you're even remotely interested in goofing around with friends on a beautiful island.
I was looking for an indie, non-roguelike, non-soulslike, non-idler, non-deckbuilding, rpg and came across this game. It is not without its flaws but it was enjoyable. Things I think may improve the UX: 1. Detailed conversation logs since there are no map markers for quests. Also include post-quest dialogue (e.g. Pichness gave me a key to a shack but I forgot the description of it). 2. Why does performance fluctuate on high settings on a 9070XT? 3. Enemy LOS is freakishly far. 4. Many enemy types keep running away from you even if you aggro them. Think slugs, oozes ... 5. Maybe include a map marker toggle for quests for players who do not like to explore. 6. Detailed inventory management. Overall, I love the game.
janky but amazing and made me feel young again like i was playing elder scrolls for the first time.. but on acid.....
Easy to hate but honestly such a commendable effort to carry the lost torch of a beloved classic. Plenty of surprises kept me coming back to just simply ♥♥♥♥ around and find out in the best way possible. Game makes me wish I was a teenager again to get completely lost to time once more with how much beauty put into the world building. It's rare for me to not think twice about a game not including fast travel but the devs added it as an accessibility option which is such an excellent choice. Worthy.
This is one of my favorite games, I hope more people find it, play it and have as much of a good time as I've been having. It's new and weird. The games world is dense. The devs appear to be friendly and have a discord server for people to meet and play together, and to report bugs. There are bugs. I certainly haven't found any major problems yet, though. This game feels like it is being worked on non-stop while feeling like it's had an enormous effort put into it already. it keeps getting better. I meant to end this review in one sentence but I find that I'm struggling to shape the experience into a few words. The game is far cheaper than it should be so just give it a shot - it's worth it.
I highly recommend this if you've ever enjoyed an Elder Scrolls game. There is so much character to this world, it's a delight to inhabit.
Every day for the past week, I've been opening up this bad boy and having myself a blast. Then, at some point, I'll look over at my partner and say, "Did you know I love this game?" She's starting to get tired of it. This is so fun though! I'm trying to spread the word and get more friends to give it a try. It's taking time away from my writing but who cares. Skyrim was a recent obsession of mine and I never played Morrowind. Time to dive in...after a few more hours of this at least. 10/10 Indie Game.
FUN GAME , A SIMPLE MORROWIND LIKE GAME JUST ALOT SMALLER BUT STILL LOTS TO DO .
