About
Lured in by shared nightmares, madmen travel to a remote island crowned by a silent Tower. No one remembers the journey.
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint is an open world RPG built around exploration and connection. You learn the land by walking it, following rumors, reading scraps of burned history, and meeting lost souls who wandered to the ends of the Earth, following the same feverish dream of a light buried beneath the Tower.
Somewhere in the depths is a theater with an empty stage, waiting for an audience. As you repair or ruin the lives of the island's inhabitants, the phantoms they leave behind take their seats in the audience. The more seats you fill, the more the island listens, and the greater the applause for your final act.
And if you don’t want to descend alone, you don’t have to. The entire game is fully playable in co-op: explore the island together, delve into the depths for treasures, and make the choices that will decide the fate of everyone on the island, and beyond...
A wild, ancient island to explore
Follow leads, find shortcuts into the Tower, stumble into side stories, and piece together what is real and what is mere delusion.
Open Ended
Most quests have multiple resolutions. Mercy, violence, compromise, deceit.
A large cast of bizarre characters
Many strange folk find their home on the island. A giant toad learning to read. An ancient skeleton who just wants to swim. A musician from a faraway land hunts for something precious. Everyone has a theory for why you’re here. None of them agree.
The Amphitheater
Your choices change the world. Treat others with kindness and generosity, and a trusted friend will take their seat in your audience. Fail or abuse them, and something darker takes their place. The House fills either way.
Visceral Combat with multiple weapon types
Punchy combat against strange horrors
Full co-op
Play the whole game together. Explore the world, share the spoils, and decide who you will become, because the consequences belong to all of you.
The Tower does not call the whole. It calls the broken, the wanting.
Fill the seats. Start the performance. Find out what is buried at the bottom of the well.

This is some ambitious game that feels like a (good ) fever dream , honestly mindblowned how good it plays and feels. Great job on the voice acting as well!
Got tossed onto an island and within a minute I am subjected to a racial slur and told to kill myself in the jungle 10/10 But for real tho fantastic take on the genre with clearly passionate devs who are updating and expanding the game at an insane pace. The game is oozing with soul and I am here for it

The disclaimer says there isn't any AI in this game, which is good. But it also says there is no genitalia. Which is bad.
This game absolutely has the potential to be a cult classic. I don't see the normie audience playing this, but people who loved Morrowind will likely fall in love with The Lantern of the Laughless Saint. There are many rough edges to sand down and much polish to be applied but with time and care this will be a masterpiece. + Plot is immediately engaging + The world is immersive and seamless
No loading screens?!
+ Character progression is solid and fun + Skills and perks actually feel impactful + Artstyle is sublime and the world is beautiful + Cheap price - Janky and buggy at times - Map feels confusing - Journal is useless and gives zero direction - Finding points of interest in the world is difficult due to the foliage - Quite heavy on the GPU considering the graphics Almost 15 years since the last Elder Scrolls game some random indie dudes drop a gem like this. I can't wait to see what they manage to do with this.
Devs seem committed, but this is so far from being complete, I highly doubt they can maintain the trajectory needed to finish this skeleton of a game. Not a single aspect of it is fleshed out. I know what early access entails, but this really should not have been released as it is. *Unreal Engine 5 is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I don't understand why indie developers try to use it.*
I'm going to give this game a recommendation but I will say it might be best to wait for a bit. The backpeddaling mages and archers are enough to make me just turn off the game. I've over fourteen hours in and I've replaced my weapon once. Maybe I just thought there was going to be more gear but there's not a lot.
You know I really wonder if I'm missing something with this quest marker discourse. I spent like half an hour looking for the western wall to buy magic, because that sounded cool. However only knowing that it's a wall to the west isn't much to go off of. Explored a bunch of empty houses, walked down some empty paths, felt the whole time like I was missing out. Which is what quest markers are made to prevent! I can understand the appeal of getting lost and tripping over new interesting things but there's just nothing in this world it seems. Is this what people did for fun in 2002? I think I'll wait another 10 years for these guys to make a spiritual successor to Oblivion
A damn strong game in a subgenre that really needs more love and attention due to bethesda's lack of output recently.
There arr bugs but so far, this game is fantastic. Hotfixes every day trying to fix issues that are reported. Definitely worth a shot for £15
