About
Lured in by shared nightmares, madmen travel to a remote island crowned by a silent Tower. No one remembers the journey.
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint is an open world RPG built around exploration and connection. You learn the land by walking it, following rumors, reading scraps of burned history, and meeting lost souls who wandered to the ends of the Earth, following the same feverish dream of a light buried beneath the Tower.
Somewhere in the depths is a theater with an empty stage, waiting for an audience. As you repair or ruin the lives of the island's inhabitants, the phantoms they leave behind take their seats in the audience. The more seats you fill, the more the island listens, and the greater the applause for your final act.
And if you don’t want to descend alone, you don’t have to. The entire game is fully playable in co-op: explore the island together, delve into the depths for treasures, and make the choices that will decide the fate of everyone on the island, and beyond...
A wild, ancient island to explore
Follow leads, find shortcuts into the Tower, stumble into side stories, and piece together what is real and what is mere delusion.
Open Ended
Most quests have multiple resolutions. Mercy, violence, compromise, deceit.
A large cast of bizarre characters
Many strange folk find their home on the island. A giant toad learning to read. An ancient skeleton who just wants to swim. A musician from a faraway land hunts for something precious. Everyone has a theory for why you’re here. None of them agree.
The Amphitheater
Your choices change the world. Treat others with kindness and generosity, and a trusted friend will take their seat in your audience. Fail or abuse them, and something darker takes their place. The House fills either way.
Visceral Combat with multiple weapon types
Punchy combat against strange horrors
Full co-op
Play the whole game together. Explore the world, share the spoils, and decide who you will become, because the consequences belong to all of you.
The Tower does not call the whole. It calls the broken, the wanting.
Fill the seats. Start the performance. Find out what is buried at the bottom of the well.

some bugs here and there, especially in coop. nothing game breaking that ive seen yet, mostly cosmetic, like half of my beard disappearing. game would benefit from a "help im stuck" option in the menu. nonetheless I have very high hopes for this game and love the style
wow!
If you are on the fence about buying this game, I would strongly encourage you to get it! I just finished my first playthrough (single-player) and overall had a great experience. The minor gripes that I have with Lantern of the Laughless Saint are far outweighed by the positives this game has to offer. It's a great game that does not take itself too seriously. Easy recommend 8.5/10. Here are some strengths/weaknesses of the game to consider if you're still unsure: Strengths: - The map of the island is fully 3D and beautifully detailed. As there are no quest markers in the game, you heavily rely on scouting out the island with your map. You are able to see cave entrances, campfires, shacks, and even large enemies if you look close enough. - The variety of perks/skills in this game make it easily repayable and go beyond "do more damage with [x]". There are perks that give genuinely bizarre effects (sprinting on thin air, become a tweaker, you explode on death). Alongside other more standard rpg perks/skills, you have plenty at your disposal to make whatever abomination of a character you desire. -The variety of weapons/armor you can find is acceptable. Nothing groundbreaking, but enough to keep you exploring POIs that you find. There are a fair amount of secrets scattered across the map, you will frequently be looking vertically to find obscured entrances or levers. - Movement is king in this game. As you level up sprinting & acrobatics skills, you move faster and jump higher. This is important because some areas are inaccessible when you first start! You can stab your spear into the ground to vault high in the air, you can spec into triple jumping, you can craft your own levitation spells. You might as well be able to fly mid-late game. Fall damage is also easily mitigated. Weaknesses: - My only real complaint with the game relates to the lack of quest markers. ~30% of the quests in this game are completed by accidentally stumbling across part of the solution, instead of intentionally completing them. This problem is confounded by many quests with nebulous instructions. Additionally, "key" items for quests are able to be sold to merchants or dropped from your inventory. This will happen to you and I wish you luck remembering what you did with them. Thankfully, console commands are a last resort if you are truly stuck. - Collision on surfaces is not great in areas which you need levitation to get to. This often leads to sliding down/through a rocky surface when it is visually flat. Only noticeable when you're somewhere you are probably not meant to be. - No fishing yet. Unplayable.

MAKE THE FROG PEOPLE A PLAYABLE RACE!!!!!!!!!
The Morrowind/Elder Scrolls inspiration shines through brilliantly. The game mechanics have a lot in common, but have unique twists that I love. The world presented is fantastic. I recommend this game to enjoyers of the following: - punching animated skeletons and floating eyes - swimming and fishing - stealing - jumping and sprinting - hoarding items from slain enemies - consuming the flesh of human-shaped beasts - ascending to ultimate power through the above
Amazing game so far. I haven't even seen 80% of the map, so I'm sure there's plenty of hours worth of gameplay, even for EA. Definitely nostalgic to how Elder Scrolls games used to make me feel. If you like that type of gameplay you wont be disappointed. Really great graphic style, amazing voice acting and dialogue. Combat feels responsive and not easily cheesed like you'd expect in this type of game's combat. Really look forward to see how development progresses and wanted to post a positive review to support this game.
Very well made RPG, I was instantly hooked. Looks Decent Plays extremely well No Bugs Encountered Combat is fun Lore is nice World looks great (for its graphic style)
absolute cinema.jpg If you like Morrowind, stop hesitating, just buy it. It's the best spiritual successor one might ask for.
