About
Lured in by shared nightmares, madmen travel to a remote island crowned by a silent Tower. No one remembers the journey.
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint is an open world RPG built around exploration and connection. You learn the land by walking it, following rumors, reading scraps of burned history, and meeting lost souls who wandered to the ends of the Earth, following the same feverish dream of a light buried beneath the Tower.
Somewhere in the depths is a theater with an empty stage, waiting for an audience. As you repair or ruin the lives of the island's inhabitants, the phantoms they leave behind take their seats in the audience. The more seats you fill, the more the island listens, and the greater the applause for your final act.
And if you don’t want to descend alone, you don’t have to. The entire game is fully playable in co-op: explore the island together, delve into the depths for treasures, and make the choices that will decide the fate of everyone on the island, and beyond...
A wild, ancient island to explore
Follow leads, find shortcuts into the Tower, stumble into side stories, and piece together what is real and what is mere delusion.
Open Ended
Most quests have multiple resolutions. Mercy, violence, compromise, deceit.
A large cast of bizarre characters
Many strange folk find their home on the island. A giant toad learning to read. An ancient skeleton who just wants to swim. A musician from a faraway land hunts for something precious. Everyone has a theory for why you’re here. None of them agree.
The Amphitheater
Your choices change the world. Treat others with kindness and generosity, and a trusted friend will take their seat in your audience. Fail or abuse them, and something darker takes their place. The House fills either way.
Visceral Combat with multiple weapon types
Punchy combat against strange horrors
Full co-op
Play the whole game together. Explore the world, share the spoils, and decide who you will become, because the consequences belong to all of you.
The Tower does not call the whole. It calls the broken, the wanting.
Fill the seats. Start the performance. Find out what is buried at the bottom of the well.

janky but amazing and made me feel young again like i was playing elder scrolls for the first time.. but on acid.....
Easy to hate but honestly such a commendable effort to carry the lost torch of a beloved classic. Plenty of surprises kept me coming back to just simply ♥♥♥♥ around and find out in the best way possible. Game makes me wish I was a teenager again to get completely lost to time once more with how much beauty put into the world building. It's rare for me to not think twice about a game not including fast travel but the devs added it as an accessibility option which is such an excellent choice. Worthy.

Really scratches a certain kind of itch that people who enjoyed open world first person RPGs from that past will have. Visually it's got great art style and a good mix of pixelated textures and modern lighting that clicks for me. Combat is simplistic (but there is a dodge) but that's true to form for this style of game. The magic stands out for letting you do cool things like levitate up cliffs (or take a potion and jump hundreds of feet up) and feels freeing. I did encounter some typos and jankiness but nothing gamebreaking in the few hours I've played. Some stairs were real weird moving on and in some areas where you descended (caves, tombs) their would be invisible water at the bottom. It feels more fully baked that a lot of early access titles I've seen. Would recommend for anyone that enjoyed open world RPGs of old and newer folks that can overlook some jank to experience a different kind of feeling to hand holding modern games.
I highly recommend this if you've ever enjoyed an Elder Scrolls game. There is so much character to this world, it's a delight to inhabit.
Every day for the past week, I've been opening up this bad boy and having myself a blast. Then, at some point, I'll look over at my partner and say, "Did you know I love this game?" She's starting to get tired of it. This is so fun though! I'm trying to spread the word and get more friends to give it a try. It's taking time away from my writing but who cares. Skyrim was a recent obsession of mine and I never played Morrowind. Time to dive in...after a few more hours of this at least. 10/10 Indie Game.
FUN GAME , A SIMPLE MORROWIND LIKE GAME JUST ALOT SMALLER BUT STILL LOTS TO DO .
It feels like I'm playing Morrowind for the first time again. I adore this!
very good it defenity ticks the scrolls like box and i love it
it's straight up a bethesda-like and runs about as well given it's on UE5 with lumen. still, not too bad and co-op was super seamless with no lag whatsoever. i'd give it a shot if you like any of the elder scrolls games and want to buddy up with someone
Needs a lot of work, but I do feel comfortable giving it a positive review, simply on the grounds that I got 12 straight hours of pretty entertaining co-op gameplay, but a lot of it was in spite of the games design, not because of it. I don't think i'd recommend it for solo players though. for instance, we missed out on probably 70% of the quests because occasionally all the townspeople would try to kill us without us even doing anything wrong. For instance we found the cat people village on the far side of the map, and the npc that teaches 2 handed weaponry just burned himself to death on the campfire, which angered everyone else in the village and locked us out of probably several quests. The same thing happened randomly at the starter village later, we both died in the Tower and respawned at the starting village, only to be met with the whole town trying to kill us. Its now a ghost town, since at that point it was like a bunch of toddlers trying to punch a refrigerator to death. Also present are lots of Co-op desync bugs, since I wasn't the host I have lots of experience with these. I was literally incapable of sprinting up stairs or ramps without falling through the floor or being launched somewhere. Many quests also wouldn't trigger completion if I, the guest, was the one to complete them and not the host. We'd have to wait a few in game days for them to reset and then have the host player finish them instead. a few cases of enemies that were invisible for me but visible for the host, making dungeon crawling a bit frustrating since i'd just die sometimes. this bug wasn't super common, maybe 1 per hour. lots of smaller desync bugs like my gear not displaying right or fast travel not always working. Despite these big issues, the bones of a good game are here (we did play for 12 very entertaining hours in one day) so i have no problem giving it a very positive review, and the devs are working very hard on maintaining the game, since there have been 7 updates since its launch 1 week ago. I will most likely be playing this game again once it is more complete.
