The Journey Down: Chapter One

A small point-and-click Indie game from 2013 with an Afro-Caribbean setting. The story is ok and the game mechanics are fine as well. The art style stands out the most and is quite unique. Their inspiration from African heritage stands out quite well. The background Jazz score accompanies the game excellently and meshes well with the overall theme. The character animations and cut scenes are done well. As with any game of this genre, you will end up navigating the same places quite a lot of time, but that's a feature of this genre. The conversations with the NPCs provide quite the set of clues and it's good to pay attention to them. The puzzle solving element is good and is a bit varied too. There seems to be scope of achievements in terms of trying out certain combinations - but we still have trading cards. If I do have a gripe, it's just that getting all the free card drops in a single play might not be feasible. Otherwise, it's a fun way to spend your weekend. I do recommend getting and playing the other 2 parts for this game. - 7/10

Overall a pretty good adventure & point and click game. Charming, fun and usually not too hard. I checked a walkthrough a few times though.

Essa review é para toda a série. O jogo tem sua limitações e definitivamente parece ter uma animação um pouco antiga em alguns momentos, mas isso não é totalmente negativo. Tanto a estética, quanto os puzzles e a história fazem lembrar muito da era point and click da LucasArts.

After 13 minutes, I knew this was one of the most annoying games I would never play.

2D背景3D角色无缝切换且全程语音的小游戏在14年来说应该是挺不错的，其实哪怕放在现在还是很有意思的，但那个建模虽然说是参考非洲传统面具/雕塑吧，游戏里还是有点诡异。风格化角色和整个故事背景非常割裂，一个非常美式赛博朋克的背景下突然塞个完全不搭的文化符号感觉毫无意义。 而且实在让人生厌，不提风格化的外形和魔性的口音、那个站姿、肢体语言这些，最重要的是那些台词的语调，屌丝味十足，我第一次听到这么让人生厌、只听声音就觉得是个流氓混混的配音了.............加上莫名其妙（也几乎等于0）的剧情，整个发展肉眼可见的俗套无聊。
