Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

Extremely promising abandonware. Devs gave up completely after 1 major update. I had high expectations from Empire at War, and was really let down.
This game was so close to being a great WW1 game sadly Petroglyph abandoned it and now it feels rather half baked. Worth it on sale

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 31: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.57/day in the week to Aug 11 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

This game is a unique and troubling reflection on WW1. Before playing this game, I often wondered how WW1 generals could commit so many millions to slaughter. After my second play through, I realized I was doing the same thing. We need to capture this new objective dictated by the government? Send in 8 divisions. We only lost 2 on trainee mode, so victory. It was not until that fateful second play through that I understood. This game is not a game as you would traditionally understand it. It's a perfectly fun strategy game in its own right. There are countless gripes I could bring up. But every time I begin to complain, the nagging specter of history stops me. The AI is easily thrown off, commits forces in suicidal actions, and is easily bogged down. Similar to countless WW1 generals. The supply system is frustrating and exorbitantly difficult to triage; as was the sustainment of the great war. The maps get samey and you often find yourself fighting on the same maps; similar to how there were over 3 battles at Arras. This game is the most brutal examination of the hardest part of the first world war: the vicious reality of commanding thousands to their deaths, with no good solutions and no good plan. Even with the hindsight of history, this game will have you committing to the same insanity of Hague, Ludendorf, and von Moltke before you realize it. I recommend this game to any history buff and strategy game fan. Paired with a listen through of Blueprint to Armageddon, you will find yourself learning and experiencing at a level previously unachievable.
A bait-and-drop scheme for those of us who were starving for a Total War WW1. I even waited til a few days after launch to be sure, but the creampuff reviews and softball interviews with the creative team won me over. I wanted this game to be something, and it was so close to that thing, but was immediately abandoned. The AI is a problem, and in fact was so overpowered at launch that the game was essentially unplayable. Complaints to this effect were met with the usual snark of "git gud" from the sweats, and ultimately what should have been a decent correction to the difficulty curve resulted in either braindead or godlike AI with little ground in between. Get it on sale, the regular price for this is absolutely too high after its abandonment by the devs. 10-20 hours of pummeling the same points on the same maps over and over and you'll be ready to move on.
Pros: Tech tree is a nice reason to play the full time out. Graphics are above average. Sound is good. Campaign map is very good and detailed. Customization in your game play. Cons: Actual limitations of 30 units on the battlefield is not so bad, but combine this with the actual game's winning or losing scenario and it limits your play time. No managing in depth detail for the armies. (Example: I moved one army from Ypres to Verdun, never losing a battle, never losing more than 1,000 casualties in a battle the entire time. The game didn't seem to notice that I was fighting the AI advances off, and advancing myself, nearly every turn. Morale was always 100% and supplies really didn't stop me.) Can not change historical occurrences from happening. Can play the entire war and not lose a battle. Artillery is overpowered. Trench systems seem authentic until you are limited to 30 units. Tech tree would be better if it was more detailed. Verdict: This is not a simulator, though it is a nice representation of the challenges of moving out across No Man's Land with infantry. The artillery is over powered, morale is not logical, but it at least seems fair. The Great War is not a "Great" game in my opinion. Yet, one should never say it is a bad game either. I feel it is like far too many games created today, a lot of good things left stranded for various reasons and what we are left with is a game you can play and enjoy, but never love.
Game had some decent potential, but with it the dev team no longer providing updates, I wouldn't recommend wasting your money here.
Well i can confirm that the AI cheats heavily. even on medium difficulty. one of my Trenches sustained over 10 minutes of literally constant uptime of artillery barrages - which is mathematically impossible for the early game setting. they we're obviously glitched because they also got their infantry caught up running back and forth, but that shouldn't allow them unlimited supply.
