About

Scavenge and fight for your next day alive under the shadow of gargantuan war machines. Enemies in the game can literally tower over the battlefield. To put it another way:

The battlefield is unpredictable thanks to The Forever Winter’s Dynamic Encounter system: enemies have their own goals and agendas, operating in coordinated groups, undertaking full-scale battles — and they’ll intelligently react to your actions. The battlefield you leave won’t be the same one you return to.
Use your wits, stealth, and skilled gunplay to make it out alive. Choose your path in the shadow of the two great superpowers, loot the dead, and make it out alive. While the warring factions may ignore you at first, the more disruptive you become to their goals, the more they'll seek to remove you from the equation.
Ecological collapse compounded by runaway technological advancement brought us here: a dystopian world choked by 40 years of industrial-scale violence between two military superpowers, AI automata, cybernetically enhanced soldiers, human-machine hybrids, and relentless automated warfare. There's two sides to this war, and you're not on either.

The game is absolutely great! BUT In the starting questline they make you gather 6 rechargable batteries... Now, I have 39 hours of playtime here and at least 29 if not more were spent trying to get those batteries so I can progress the quests... The dropchances are NOT thought out at all...

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

My friend and I love the idea of the game and it's been fun when it's working, but man, it is INCREDIBLY buggy. 50% of the time one or both of us will load without a body and just be a floating backpack. Which isn't a detriment sometimes but sometimes the client player can't use equipment or shoot their gun during this bug and we'll lose guns/gear/progress for it. Very frustrating.
Looks like a fun halfway point between like Metal Gear and 40k. I like.
Rough and confusing. Dev team can't choose between extraction shooter or suvival horror
For the love of God, stay away from this game. I ignored all the neg reviews and bought it on sale on still cant believe i own this trash. It is poorly optimized for a game that looks like fallout 3.. out of 5 playable characters.. only one is worth playing. 2 of them are almost the same and one is "heavy weapons" but it still takes 3 shots with a .50 to kill a human.. the combat is the worst part. You are meant to SNEAK everywhere and use combat as a last resort.. like wtf would want to play that way? These massive battles look amazing but you cant take part.. . Combat should have been its strong suit bc if you try and fight a group over 5 you will die.. every time. they will demolish the smallest pixel if you try and peak. The "lean" is so useless as you barley move. The character lvl system is the worst nightmare i have ever seen in a game. You will gain about 3 skills that finally help and then have to reset your character to "push" them further over and over.. you'll have to put 50 hours into this before your character finally feels strong enough to fight with. ALSO WTF IS WITH THE ECONOMY. A decent "rig" backpack will cost you 1.4 mil. Thats like 2 hours of play.. just to lose it in in 8 min bc of the jank and ill balanced combat. STAY AWAY. EDIT: steam refused my refund so here goes.. This garbage excuse of video media at the time of typing this only has 600 players.. thats a 2 month peak. EVERY single gameplay decision and mechanic that the player base despised was ignored when we reached out to the devs.. They have clearly stated their vision for this game but im afraid the player base when its finished..... will be as desolate as the world that this game was built on. The devs are the rats they assume that we want to be in this game.. what a shame.
♥♥♥♥ game
The game looks good gunplay was good but the game is confusing and you are out of bullets all the time. I would love to play it once it is completely released.
I'll be blunt "The forever winter" started out very strong. Decent gameplay ideas, Fantastic concept, mostly unused theme, and very little competition in the genre.........they took to long and have done FAR to little. Since it first showed up almost four years ago now (The release date is not when it was first up on steam it was put in early 2024 and had a "Early access release in September of the same year) The game has grown very little in terms of content , mechanics, and worst of all refinement. It's has taken over three years now to fix basic issue and not all of the launch bugs and flaws have even been fixed yet. It not bad it's just not growing at a rate that is acceptable. The developers are focused on the wrong aspects of what the game needs right now. They have also taken so long that more and more direct competition has arrived including Arc Raiders, Arena Breakout, Tarkov, Dark and Darker, and so on. Worse yet you have low effort crap like Mistfall Hunter killing the hype for the entire extraction shooter/looter genre. Frankley speaking if they don't take a hard look at what they are doing and come up with a new "Hook" for this project it will just wind up more steam abandonware. As it is now it is worth $30usd but don't expect much in the future, the game runs out of "Fun Factor" VERY fast. It gets repetitive and even "winning" feels pointless and shallow. I will say to be fair though I'm not a fan of extraction shooters by default anyway so you know a bot of a "Grain of salt" situation. I was just saddened by this as it had a lot of promise but just wound up more of the same, with slow growth and diminishing returns.
