About

Scavenge and fight for your next day alive under the shadow of gargantuan war machines. Enemies in the game can literally tower over the battlefield. To put it another way:

The battlefield is unpredictable thanks to The Forever Winter’s Dynamic Encounter system: enemies have their own goals and agendas, operating in coordinated groups, undertaking full-scale battles — and they’ll intelligently react to your actions. The battlefield you leave won’t be the same one you return to.
Use your wits, stealth, and skilled gunplay to make it out alive. Choose your path in the shadow of the two great superpowers, loot the dead, and make it out alive. While the warring factions may ignore you at first, the more disruptive you become to their goals, the more they'll seek to remove you from the equation.
Ecological collapse compounded by runaway technological advancement brought us here: a dystopian world choked by 40 years of industrial-scale violence between two military superpowers, AI automata, cybernetically enhanced soldiers, human-machine hybrids, and relentless automated warfare. There's two sides to this war, and you're not on either.

I'm sad to make this review because this game could be exceptional. This game has a marvelous dark post-apocalyptic graphics style, a unique stance: we are not heroes, we are just rats trying to survive, and it has a savory reference to 1984. But we are supposed to be scavengers, rats. This means sneaking out of a situation or waiting for a conflict to resolve to advance and only use gun as last resort (or risky/greedy encounter). But the AI in this game does NOT make you feel this way. All combats are always near you, ALWAYS. Waiting for the conflict to end and troops to move out is not possible because all combats are ALWAYS near you, meaning units hang around doing nothing. You are then forced to fight or go back, make them despawn, and come back. I'm not playing the game; I'm hacking the AI to make it move. That explains why scav girl or shaman are favorites: move fast, hack spawn easily. When you pay attention to the conflict (because you need to plan where to go and how), nothing makes sense. - No clear frontline: units from either side spawn everywhere. - Units stay near you even after one side has been killed - There is no clear objective for either side (protect a point, attack a point, go around, mechs or tanks to pierce, artillery). I know it's a complex thing to do, but, man, if AI could really make you feel like it's a complex puzzle about seeing opportunities on the frontline; a skirmish that ends with an alone combatant, a big charge that leaves a few seconds an objective empty for looting, or simply going on a supply line or artillery line to attack and loot. And in my wildest dream, I imagine that my action would influence the skirmish, an scouting troups that disapears, shots that comes from the rearlines that should trigger some response from both sides. For the moment it feels like a big rock is placed on any path I take and i have to risk a fight or leave for the next rock. I hope that this will change, but the current "meta" is (for high lvl) run and gun which in my opinion is the opposite of what this game is suppose to be.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Great game. It has some issues but it's shaping up nice
Hey YOU! No, not the fully kitted soldier. Not the skynet floppy cyborg torso pulling itself along the ground toward me. Not the giant mech with a gatling gun stomping around this massive wasteland battlefield of run down buildings and shredded vehicle wrecks. I'm talking to YOU, human (sometimes) that lives underground and only comes up to the surface to scavenge in this war torn world. You want to do some scavenging? Of course you do, you filthy little undergrounder. You want some of this sweet loot, some gear one of the soldiers dropped, or even some tools from an old supply crate. Maybe some 40 year old bag of chips to eat? Why check the date - it's not like they're gonna make more! Forever Winter is like if Arc Raiders was available a year sooner, in early access and way darker, with a community that sometimes zeroes in on large women eating people. It also has no pvp and no time limits on raids, so you're free to scurry around like an ant and try to scrounge for your next meal, or to trade some cyberlung for more bullets, so you can go win yourself some more cyber lungs. Excellent game, currently hilariously bad AI and some pretty lousy menus, but everything else is a charm. 10/10 would recommend if you like extraction stuff
One of the best multi-player games
A janky mess, but a very fun janky mess.
楽しいぞ!
Absolutely my favorite game since release. The lore, gameplay, and aesthetic's were like the game was made for me. my only complaint is the frame rate stuttering but i truly believe it will be better in the future. Can't wait to see what the future has in store for this ggame especially since i play every single day! Thanks Fundog for the amazing game :) I really appreciate it!
poco amor en el desarrollo
