I didn't get far with this. There's a lot of grinding while you desperately try to track down the right person...it quickly starts to feel like a big chore, especially as you have to do it day after day. I gess it recreates the boredom and simultaneous anxiety that is to be in prison. Poor guys...
The Escapists has a very light-hearted take on escaping prison. You interact with other inmates to get items from them and improve your stats until you can craft items good enough to escape. My favourite part was how each prison has a slightly different strategy for escape, be it the items you need or the path you need to take within the prison. However, in my opinion this change is not enough. The gameplay loop within each prison is still a bit too similar and the tasks you do on your day-to-day within the same prison are also incredibly monotonous. You work your job, exercise and hope for good items from the other prisoners. The game has 6 prisons in total and I found that after the first 4 I had enough of doing the same actions every day. The game can definitely be fun, and if you really enjoy the loop of tasks you do every day I think you will enjoy to play the whole thing, but I personally wouldn't recommend it for it's repetitiveness.

I dropped the soap
Well Made… But Just Didn’t Hit for Me I really wanted to like The Escapists. It looked fun, kind of like if Bully was turned into an 8-bit strategy game, and I was genuinely curious going in. But after spending some time with it… I just didn’t find it very fun or interesting. That’s not to say it’s a bad game—it’s actually really well made. The systems are smart, the mechanics are layered, and I can see why people enjoy it. But for me personally, it just didn’t click. It felt more like work than play, and I couldn’t get invested in the loop. Sad to say it, but this one just wasn’t for me. If you’re into slower-paced strategy and puzzle-solving, you might have a better time—but if you’re expecting something more fast-paced or story-driven, it might fall flat.
