As someone who loved those typing games when I was a kid and who loves restaurant management games... THIS IS AMAZING!!! The game mechanics itself is fun. The story, art, and dialogue are all huge pluses. I can't wait for the rest of the game!

The gameplay was fun I like the fact that the typing symbols is the hardest part of the game But my favourite part is the story I liked it a lot Sofia best girl ever.
The Chef's Shift: First Course is a free to play cooking game that does something pretty different with the genre. Instead of using normal cooking controls, pretty much everything is done by typing. You take orders, prepare food and serve customers by typing the words shown on screen. The typing mechanic is easily the best part. At first it feels simple, but once customers start ordering lots of things at once, you have to type quickly and accurately while keeping track of what everyone wants. It gives the game a surprisingly stressful feeling. The time management also works really well with the typing. Customers have limited patience, so you cannot just take your time. You have to decide what to do first and try not to make mistakes, especially when the restaurant starts getting busy. I also like the story. You play as Lorenzo at the start of his chef career, and the restaurant has a crime and mafia theme running through it. It is a funny combination that gives the game more personality than a normal cooking simulator. The game does a good job of adding distractions too. Rats can invade the restaurant and customers can cause problems while you are already trying to keep up with the orders. This helps stop the typing from becoming completely repetitive. The biggest problem is that this is only the First Course. You are getting the Italian restaurant and the start of the story rather than the full game, so the amount of content is limited. The developers have said the full game is planned around six restaurants with more story and longer playtime. The difficulty can also be frustrating. The game gets hectic quite quickly, and if you are not a fast typist, some sections can feel more annoying than fun. There are also a few community discussions about specific typing inputs causing confusion. Overall, The Chef's Shift: First Course is a really clever free game with a typing mechanic that actually works. The cooking, time management and dark humour fit together nicely, and the very positive Steam reception backs that up, It is a bit limited because it is only a prologue, but there is enough here for good entertainment Rating: 7.5/10
