About
The Cave Diver is equal parts rage-game, psychological horror, and folklore nightmare.
A rage-inducing descent into darkness, built around unconventional hand-based controls and a story buried deep beneath the earth.
The suffocating rocks of the caves are slowly closing in to claim another soul.
Keep crawling... You're almost there...
Cave dive through a labyrinth of crushing stones and constricting passageways. Branching tunnels will lure you into claustrophobic passages where turning back seems physically impossible.
Hammer crude signs into the stone to track your descent into the caves. With every new body, the cave grows familiar. The marks of those who came before remain…
The caves are no place for the living. Getting stuck means dying alone, entombed in rock. No one is coming to save you. When you return as a new cave diver, you might stumble upon your predecessor's decayed remains - if you can reach them.
Master the movement and grip of your two hands to carefully navigate obstacles and overcome physics puzzles. Every movement is perfected through failure. Only the obsessive, the patient, and the insane make it deeper.
For generations your family has told stories of a rare flower that grows at the bottom of these caves. They say the flower can cure any ailment - even paraplegia of the legs . But every man who's entered the caves has failed to return... Some say the cave itself takes them... Others speak of something ancient that stirs below - an evil older than man himself...

My mom had claustrophobia and I never understood it. Now I'm reconsidering my fears. This game hits all the marks. Being alone, barely in control, NEVER knowing what's about to come next as you finally squeeze through that hole after taking 5 minutes to position yourself while you're about to suffocate. Am I getting out? Am I going deeper into the abyss? Only my relatives know. I find myself holding my breath more often than not. I'm addicted and you should be too.
I'm not normally one to drop reviews, but I'm going to for this one! Absolutely great game. Atmosphere is awesome, sound design is fantastic (I.e horrific and shudder inducing), and gameplay is uniquely frustrating, terrifying, and rewarding all at once! Plus, the speed run mode and hardcore mode add some more replayability. If you enjoy games like getting over it, I'd bet you'll like this one as well.

This game makes me glad I have functioning legs.

The game is great. The story is very well paced and I thoroughly loved the lore, which wasn't what I expected in this game. The game is difficult and sometimes pretty cruel, frankly. However, it's satisfying to beat. My heart was racing at the end as I played. I really do recommend the game and the dev has been adding hotfixes quickly when bugs are reported. -Skeeer
A horror-themed rage game with an interesting plot and (somewhat infurating at times) goofy controls. PROS: -Movement feels nice once you actually get used to how it works -Scenery is well made, nicely contrasted, and thematic -Notes feed you bites of lore as you progress, including extra notes you can find by wandering off the path -Sound effects and ambience do a nice job of setting up the atmosphere CONS: -In my opinion, the entire silver ore section is the worst part of the game. Of all the game mechanics, carrying objects is by far the clunkiest; it doesn't feel natural, it's unintuitive, and it's obnoxious to deal with. If you hold an object and reach out to place it somewhere, the game thinks you're trying to "push away" from the object and it moves you in the opposite direction instead. -The only thing you can move is your arms, but it would've helped to have a button to tilt your head when needed. Sometimes you'll get stuck in a position where your whole body has room, but because your neck is bent a certain way, it stops you from pushing forward. -Currently, the game has two endings, but your save file is cleared when you win, so you'll only get to see one.
Lowkey really satisfying movement, I was zooming through the early part and then I was just inching forward to get through the tough parts. The game flows well and did a good job of forcing me to learn some tech early.
If you think this Looks Fun... It is... just buy it now. Its got controls that would make Bennet Foddy happy. Love the story. Big thx to the dev for taking the time to make something so truly horribly fun, clearly made with love ♥
