About
You wake inside a dead god. The corpse is your world: a continent of rotting organs, bone corridors, and forgotten chambers, rendered in retro terminal ASCII with authentic CRT glow. For fans of Caves of Qud, Dwarf Fortress, Cultist Simulator, and Sunless Sea.

Harvest biomass, calcium, bile, and neurons from the rotting flesh around you. Every organ is a resource. Every bone is a wall. The deeper you carve, the more the carcass yields and the more it remembers.

Build chambers, forges, and altars across living anatomy. Every citizen has traits, skills, and scars that outlive them. Leaders rise. Factions form and clash. Hold morale together or decide who eats and who is eaten.

Research splits into combat, production, diplomacy, and forbidden arts. Unlock occult mutations: bone armor, mind-link, parasite resistance, the ability to digest gods. The deeper you dig, the more the carcass understands you.

Send your warriors into the marrow. Battle parasites that learned what fear is. Defend chambers against creatures that wake when you sleep. Permadeath is real, but the carcass remembers every warrior you ever sent in.

Story-rich Lovecraftian events drawn from deep cosmic horror lore. A stranger comes asking for shelter. An organ pulses with stolen memory. The voice in the wall offers a deal. Every choice echoes through factions, futures, and endings.

Every keystroke shapes your fate. Every choice carries forward. New Game Plus carries your victories. The carcass remembers everything you ever did inside it.

Dominion. Symbiosis. Awakening. Escape. Transcendence. Five main endings, and four more hidden behind cryptic choices. Each demands a different strategy. Each rewrites how the god remembers you.

Five difficulty levels from Merciful to Extinction. Permadeath Ironman mode. Localization, accessibility, and a customizable terminal. Pure keyboard input. Authentic CRT effects. No mouse needed.

boring, incomprehensive, unintuitive, and the devs neglected to mention until hours post launch that every asset and even the coding was AI "assisted" also the carcass is alive and is in fact not a carcass my 7.49 plus tax has returned safely within the comfortable confines of my bank account, huzzah.
Most of the comments already explain the poor launch with the undisclosed usage of AI so I will not repeat that. If this game was free I probably wouldn't be leaving a review like this and just move on but... here we are. The game had potential, it had an idea, a premise, that could have worked out and potentially even dragged me into the story if it wasn't so obviously made with generative tools. Text would repeat in the same screen more than once, ASCII art would look out of place in some dialogue boxes. The UI sometimes had a bit too much unneeded info but that I could look past on. Honestly, this could have been a perfect game only if it didn't use generative AI for most of its features with the art, music, text, and voice acting. Dev, you have the vision and you absolutely can execute it without using gen AI as a major crutch. If you ever make a similar game in the future with your own hands and imagination I would love to give it a try, but as of the state that The Carcass is in right now? I cannot see myself playing anymore than I have.

Sloppy AI garbo
dih
Made entirely with ai do not buy. what a waste of a great concept
Lots of AI usage with no disclosure, im bad at spotting ai art i see it now with the art on the store page but i was blinded by how cool the concept is, the story feels like ai rambling and the terminal doesn't work like a terminal which i feel like should be the main selling point here
Warning: Developer failed to disclose how much of the game was created with A.I. at launch.
Much of the game is hard to understand either because of cryptic game design and/or bugs due to A.I. generated code. This makes it impossible to know what's happening most of the time, or what your trying to do. The game will randomly skip entire turns after events with no warning. Exploring the map is confusing and you will get turned around trying to get your Barings. Entire mechanics are poorly explained and most are locked at the beginning, despite in the main menu. I can go on about the problems this game has, but I think you get the point. Don't waste you time and money on this. There are far better games like this available that used ZERO A.I. in there creation.
The cover art is AI-generated. The ASCII art makes absolutely no sense half of the time (most-likely AI generated). Every paragraph is a complete infodump, with little-to-no clarity on most anything. Very disappointed from what I originally thought was an interesting concept.
Wanted to like this. It's an extremely interesting concept that sadly was hampered by the almost complete reliance of AI. Genuinely tried but I just do not believe that anyone went over anything made by AI in any serious capacity if they went over it at all.
