About
You wake inside a dead god. The corpse is your world: a continent of rotting organs, bone corridors, and forgotten chambers, rendered in retro terminal ASCII with authentic CRT glow. For fans of Caves of Qud, Dwarf Fortress, Cultist Simulator, and Sunless Sea.

Harvest biomass, calcium, bile, and neurons from the rotting flesh around you. Every organ is a resource. Every bone is a wall. The deeper you carve, the more the carcass yields and the more it remembers.

Build chambers, forges, and altars across living anatomy. Every citizen has traits, skills, and scars that outlive them. Leaders rise. Factions form and clash. Hold morale together or decide who eats and who is eaten.

Research splits into combat, production, diplomacy, and forbidden arts. Unlock occult mutations: bone armor, mind-link, parasite resistance, the ability to digest gods. The deeper you dig, the more the carcass understands you.

Send your warriors into the marrow. Battle parasites that learned what fear is. Defend chambers against creatures that wake when you sleep. Permadeath is real, but the carcass remembers every warrior you ever sent in.

Story-rich Lovecraftian events drawn from deep cosmic horror lore. A stranger comes asking for shelter. An organ pulses with stolen memory. The voice in the wall offers a deal. Every choice echoes through factions, futures, and endings.

Every keystroke shapes your fate. Every choice carries forward. New Game Plus carries your victories. The carcass remembers everything you ever did inside it.

Dominion. Symbiosis. Awakening. Escape. Transcendence. Five main endings, and four more hidden behind cryptic choices. Each demands a different strategy. Each rewrites how the god remembers you.

Five difficulty levels from Merciful to Extinction. Permadeath Ironman mode. Localization, accessibility, and a customizable terminal. Pure keyboard input. Authentic CRT effects. No mouse needed.

The best part of this game is shining a light on an interesting genre and the old school vibe...I was sold on that. unfortunately, this game is AI slop. If you want to save your game PiqFocus- shut The Carcass down, give out refunds and go back to the drawing board WITHOUT AI. If your not up for that- sell off the rights to someone who will. If you otherwise persist in trying to market this game, you will give your company a bad name- who would want to buy any of your games? :(
I was so excited for this game. I love cosmic horror. And you can pretty much guarantee that I'll buy a cosmic horror game on day one. And that initial artwork won me over. So I bought this as soon as it launched. I played through the 20 minute intro on my Steam Deck, and it seemed fine. It was annoying having to keep bringing up and closing the keyboard manually to continue through the intro, but I gave that a pass. It wasn't Steam Deck Verified so I knew what I was getting into. The story and vibes seemed good, but the writing felt a bit janky. And there were often repeated lines. Like...A LOT of repeat lines. On the same screen too, which was very odd. Other reviewers mention it, which I didn't see until after I played it. It also didn't even occur to me that it could have been due to AI use. I don't always check for an AI disclosure. I had my cosmic horror blinders on I guess. But once I finished the intro, I went to check reviews. And boy it wasn't pretty. I won't repeat what everyone has been saying. But I will say that putting up the AI disclosure AFTER the game launches is pretty bad. It comes across very sneaky. It's possible it wasn't intentional, but perception sometimes becomes reality. And the creator had to know that. While using AI for coding or localization doesn't necessarily bother me (I've talked to a lot of coders who appreciate the time savings AI can bring in their work), once you replace actual human creativity with AI you're going to lose me. And that's what makes this worse. While the AI disclosure was posted AFTER release, it wasn't even a complete list! The music and art part of the disclosure were added later. It was bad enough before. But now it seems the ONLY content that isn't AI is the idea. It's not even a bad idea! But if that's all you brought to the table, and had AI create a game for you that you then sell on Steam, no thanks.

"It wasn't just not handwritten, it was blatantly AI-written. Not only was it unaltered LLM slop, but it REMEMBERED being unaltered LLM slop." Allow me to quote the store page directly: "Story-rich, **hand-written** Lovecraftian events drawn from deep cosmic horror lore. A stranger comes asking for shelter. An organ pulses with stolen memory. The voice in the wall offers a deal. Every choice echoes through factions, futures, and endings." It doesn't matter what the gameplay is like at this point. Just disclose your usage. Gross.
info dumps galore, uses of ai, a literal mountain of words that do not add to the enjoyment of the game
was excited about this as it seemed cool aesthetically but this is AI-Slop through and through. -extremely buggy. -horrendous writing quality. -bland and massively over-compressed music. if you cannot be bothered to make ANYTHING for your game, why should i bother to play it? refunded.
This looked like exactly my type of thing, so I was very disappointed to realize (very quickly) that the text is AI-generated. The narration is vague and hand-wavey, and the tutorials are difficult to understand as a result.
♥♥♥♥ ai. this would be such an epic game if you would just ditch the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing and use your brain. sorry dude but you don't deserve this game
Aggressively AI-produced game. Every- or everyother sentence is clearly copied from an llm-induced reply to a prompt. In a game that relies on text, that's a hard no.
AI slop. If you can't make a game without generating most of it for you, do not sell it. Cheap bastard.
Added AI tag after release and denied refund request, so here we are. Almost 8 hours logged but most of them were AFK / overnight. The 90-120 minutes I gave this game a chance I struggled to make sense of what I now realize is heavy AI slop trying to be cryptic for the sake of being cryptic.
