Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I really enjoyed the first game as a hidden gem. The follow-up here is ok but I did not enjoy it the same way. The music was...ok, but nothing really became an earworm like Cradle, Suicide Prototype, or some others in the original game. I can't name a single song in this one. Combat is a grind, especially early on. Near the endgame I got my DPS up but for a majority of the game I felt like I was plinking away at most enemies. The story by the end was really good and had some really interesting moments and character development, but it was all in the last few hours. It really felt like a chore to get there but it did pay off. I recommend the game, but I feel like the first 8 hours or so will really test your patience.
The Caligula Effect 2 is a JRPG that builds its identity around psychological storytelling, emotional character development, and a unique combat system that rewards planning over reflexes. Developed by historia Inc. and FURYU Corporation and published by historia Inc., the game takes place in the virtual world of Redo, a seemingly perfect paradise where people can escape the pain and disappointments of reality. Beneath its colorful exterior, however, lies a thought-provoking narrative about regret, self-acceptance, and the difficult choice between comfortable illusion and painful truth. The central premise immediately distinguishes the game from many other role-playing titles. The citizens of Redo live idealized lives created by the virtual idol Regret, unaware that they are trapped within an artificial reality. As the protagonist uncovers the truth behind this world, they join the Go-Home Club, a group determined to return to reality despite the suffering that may await them. The story explores themes of trauma, loneliness, anxiety, and personal growth with surprising sincerity. Rather than relying solely on grand world-ending threats, the narrative focuses on the emotional struggles of its cast, making the experience feel more personal and relatable. Character development is one of the game's greatest strengths. Every major party member possesses their own emotional scars and reasons for wanting to remain in or escape Redo. Through extensive relationship events and side stories, players gradually learn about each character's past and motivations. These interactions are not simply optional distractions but meaningful additions that deepen the overall narrative. The writing does an admirable job of portraying flawed individuals trying to overcome their weaknesses, creating a cast that feels believable and emotionally engaging throughout the adventure. The combat system is where The Caligula Effect 2 truly shines. Battles use the Imaginary Chain system, which allows players to preview future actions and outcomes before executing them. This mechanic transforms combat into a strategic exercise where positioning, timing, and combo coordination become essential. Players can launch enemies, extend attack chains, and manipulate the battlefield with remarkable precision. Watching a carefully planned sequence unfold exactly as intended is incredibly satisfying, and the system remains entertaining even after dozens of hours. Unlike many turn-based RPGs that can become repetitive, the constant emphasis on planning keeps encounters fresh and rewarding. Character progression offers additional depth through various customization systems. Players can equip passive abilities, enhance statistics, and develop specialized builds that suit different combat roles. Experimentation is heavily encouraged, allowing party members to become powerful damage dealers, supportive allies, or defensive specialists depending on player preference. The abundance of customization options ensures that progression feels meaningful and gives players plenty of freedom to tailor their team composition throughout the game. The game's presentation delivers mixed results. Character artwork and anime-inspired designs are visually appealing, helping important scenes stand out and giving the cast distinctive personalities. The virtual world itself features several imaginative locations that reinforce the surreal nature of Redo. However, technical limitations occasionally become apparent through simple environmental design, repetitive assets, and stiff animations. While the visual presentation may not rival the production values of larger JRPG franchises, the artistic direction and atmosphere remain effective enough to support the story's themes. Music plays a central role in the experience and serves as one of the game's most memorable aspects. Vocal tracks are woven directly into the narrative, reflecting the personalities and emotional states of the virtual idols who shape the world. The soundtrack blends energetic battle themes with emotional vocal performances that enhance both story scenes and gameplay. Many songs become closely associated with key moments in the narrative, strengthening the emotional impact of major revelations and character arcs. The result is a soundtrack that remains memorable long after the credits roll. Exploration and dungeon design are less impressive than the game's storytelling and combat. While players will travel through a variety of areas and encounter numerous enemies, some environments feel repetitive and lack the creativity seen in the strongest JRPG level designs. Certain dungeons can feel longer than necessary, occasionally slowing the pace of the adventure. Fortunately, strong character interactions and engaging combat mechanics help maintain interest even during these weaker sections. What ultimately makes The Caligula Effect 2 stand out is its commitment to exploring difficult emotional subjects while delivering an enjoyable RPG experience. The game examines the temptation of escapism and asks whether living inside a comforting fantasy is truly preferable to confronting reality. These themes give the story a level of maturity that elevates it beyond a standard anime-inspired adventure. Combined with a memorable cast, inventive combat system, and excellent soundtrack, the result is a game that leaves a lasting impression despite its technical shortcomings. The Caligula Effect 2 succeeds by offering a compelling blend of emotional storytelling, strategic combat, and character-focused progression. Although its visuals and dungeon design occasionally reveal budget limitations, its strengths far outweigh its weaknesses. For players who enjoy narrative-driven JRPGs with meaningful themes and a distinctive battle system, it stands as a rewarding and memorable experience. Rating: 9/10

Possibly my biggest disappointment this year. How does this have 91% positive reviews?!? It keeps being referred to as "low budget Persona" but frankly it's just low budget. There is nothing that even remotely resembles Persona. The story would be ok if the characters weren't so childish that it's impossible to take any of them seriously. The combat is boring and gets repetitive 10 times faster than in Persona, dungeon design is likewise boring and repetitive. There is just nothing here that I'd rate "good" or worth the price tag (thankfully I got it on a sale).
Amazing game still my one of my most adored gaming experience.
