Great game, was nervous about it as the studio had no other releases but bought it the day before it's offical release. I was very suprised how quickly I was drawn into the world and connected with the main character. I would highly recommend to anyone that has an interest in vampires. I hope any games that continue this series are met with just as much success and I look forward to what's to come.
Reminds me a lot of the Witcher 3; which makes sense since these are ex-CDPR developers. Loved the story. Loved the game. Had issues with crashes when it first came out, but no problems with the patches. There's some jank but it doesn't take from the experience. I can't wait for the sequel.
One of the best RPGs I have played. The time mechanic is a nonissue as I did everything I wanted to do in my initial playthrough, and still had a whopping 6 days left. The combat has a great flow and is pretty rewarding when it comes to taking on multiple enemies, but my one gripe with it is that some enemies can just sit there and stare at you. That issue is much more noticeable once the enemy group grows to +5, however they do still make an effort of attacking you when you're mid combo, forcing you to cancel the attack with a parry. I don't think I could honestly recommend this game enough, it has minor flaws, but man is this game amazing.
It was a very fun game. I thought the limited time was going to be a negative for me, because I always go for all the collectables and have to finish every single quest, but after beating the game once, I actually enjoyed it.
The game that taught me to see time not as something limited, but as something full of possibilities. This is a journey you don't want to miss.
Best game I've played in a while. Wouldn't even put a video on my other screen because I'd be so mesmerized trying to find every nook and cranny.
good
nice
I strongly recommend this game at full price. While the feedback on this game has been generally very positive, and the feedback has been very variable from what I seen. Here is my take. The game's central theme in its writing seems to be the prices we pay to do things, and the number one thing we pay is time. This is clearly represented in how the in-game days are constantly progressing with each action. At first, this is daunting, but it does create a very interesting interplay between the game's systems. Notably, when you level up, you can increase your general swordsmanship, your vampire powers, and your witch magic. While sword abilities are available at almost all times, the vampire and witch magics are dependent on night and day respectively. Do you increase your vampire abilities, which while sick are only available during the night, or do you increase some witch abilities, some of which are available night and day but are way weaker? I like these competing interests. However, where this system falls apart, is the prices of these upgrades and activities. You only have thirty days to save your family, and while I played most of the premier quests and saved the family with 13 days to spare, it means that I had like 20 level up tokens to use and did not level up very often. Yes, level ups cost you time slots, which for some of the skills, is offensively bad. They need to rebalance the time cost of some of the activities and/or make some of the lower tier skills have more "Oomph." Otherwise, it discourages leveling up, and some of the later abilities are pretty dope. Otherwise, the game has a good difficulty curve. I only had two or three difficulty spikes to think of. Enemies are a bit spongy on the hard difficulty, but most are fun to fight and sufficiently different from each other. The characters are pretty cool; Coen is a great main character, he has several side characters that are great foils, and the villains are very charismatic and make fun boss fights. I would love to see how this game looks after a few updates, or an expansion/DLC, and I look forward to a sequel.
