About
You have crash-landed on a lethal, radiation-soaked planet, and you are running out of time. A scorching sun that burns everything in its path is coming your way. Your only hope of survival is a massive mobile base too complex for one person to operate. You are forced to make a decision no human has ever faced: creating a crew of alternative versions of yourself.
But your solution may just become your biggest problem.
You crashed. You are entirely alone. The sun is a death sentence, and your mobile base must keep moving to outrun it. With no rescue coming, you must find a way to operate it, or you’ll die.
When the planet itself is your enemy, every second spent standing still brings you closer to ash.
To survive, you must move. To move, you need help. Forced to use the base’s advanced quantum technology and the planet’s unique resources, you must create The Alters: alternative versions of yourself. Brought to life by a supercomputer that turned your alternative life choices into reality, they are your only hope. They bring the specific expertise and capable hands you drastically lack, but they also bring their own human baggage.
A crew of ‘yourselves’ is a psychological nightmare. Every Alter arrives with distinct personalities, memories, and regrets. You aren't just managing resources. You are also a relationship manager to yourself, mediating conflicts and confronting your past choices lightyears from home.
As tensions rise, your Alters will clash over how to handle the mission. Keep them sane and keep them together, or your own egos will destroy your only chance of seeing Earth again.
Your rolling base is your lifeline, your factory, and your home. Customize and upgrade it to accommodate your growing crew. Research cutting-edge technologies, manage crucial life-support gear, and manufacture what you need to survive. Turn your base into a self-sustaining powerhouse capable of keeping both your crew fed and your systems humming.
You cannot hide inside the hull forever. To fuel your base and progress your research, you must step out onto the hostile planet's surface. Venture out into unpredictable anomalies and heavy radiation to mine essential resources.
But watch the clock, as every expedition is a high-stakes gamble against the oncoming burning sunrise.

The Alters – A Journey Through Choice, Loss, and Self I received The Alters as a gift from a friend, having only caught a brief glimpse of it in a video somewhere. As someone drawn to space settings, the game's atmosphere and color palette immediately caught my attention, so I decided to dive in without knowing what to expect. What followed was nothing short of an emotional journey I wasn't prepared for. For anyone who feels that character development is often missing or shallow in modern games, The Alters delivers a full, uncompromising counterpoint. This is a game that will make you second-guess yourself, that will leave you sitting with regret long after a decision has played out. Every choice I made carried weight the wrong ones haunted me, the right ones felt like genuine victories worth celebrating. Every character, every version of yourself you meet along the way, grows on you in a way I genuinely haven't experienced before in all my years of gaming. The writing understands human contradiction, guilt, and hope in a way few titles even attempt. I just finished the game for the first time, and the story stands out as one of the strongest I've encountered recently. I'm already looking forward to diving into the DLC to see where the narrative goes next. Purely from a writing and narrative design perspective, I can confidently give this game a 10/10 recommendation. As for the technical side visuals weren't really my priority going in, but I have to be honest: I ran into a corrupted save file that I had to work around, and the ending sequence stuttered noticeably from start to finish. The decision to build this on Unreal Engine 5 clearly wasn't the smoothest choice for stability, though it may well have been the only way to realize the ambitious vision the developers had in mind. Performance hiccups aside, none of it diminished the emotional impact of the experience for me. What 11 bit studios has created here deserves genuine recognition. This isn't just a game it's art in one of its highest forms, telling a story about identity, responsibility, and the versions of ourselves we could have been. I'm grateful to have had the chance to experience it. Hats off to the entire team.

Every market we collect.
Latest in each market: best FR #92, worst RU #99 · 3 markets collected
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

"Jan, this is Jan, nice to meet you Jan." The Alters is a rather unique take on the story-focused space survival, aiming for a branching narrative with meaningful player decisions. As such, this review can only reflect the playthrough I had and the story I experienced. Jan Dolski, our protagonist of the game, finds himself the sole survivors of a mission to a distant planet and soon learns his only hope of survival is to create Alters, a set of clones of himself that have different skills and memories and personalities. The core of the games narrative revolves around learning more about these Alters, dealing with their issues and keeping them on track. On top of the social puzzle of the characters, the game offers a fairly simple survival game with surface level exploration, resource gathering and time management. However, it is in these mechanics that the game fell quite flat for me. The areas to explore are acually quite small and restrictive and I found myself, upon entering a new area, having completed nearly all of the exploration on the first day. Obstacles faced are simple resource drains or hovering "anomalies" that serve only as minor annoyances. The survival also seems to be mostly smoke and mirrors, as the game constantly reminds the player of a looming deadline, but that deadline only seems to become concretely defined once the player has reached a set point in the story. It seems to me there was never any real time pressure or threat outside of these rare key moments that are carefully scripted. The game also suffers from many of the issues of modern PC gaming. Its engine chugs along and with my hardware revolving around an RTX 3080ti I had no options but to seriously compromise on the games intended visuals to get it to run acceptably. This led to numerous visual glitches that added to the frustration of janky character animations and constantly getting stuck on geometry while moving around on the planets surface. Finally, I have to touch on the stroy a bit more. The Alters focuses heavily on a magical element called Rapidium, which seems to be a kind of fix-it-all thing that, we are told, is critically important to all, but for gameplay it only gates the initial creation of the Alters and then some minor upgrades and achievements as far as I can tell. However, since the game takes place in such isolation from the rest of the world, it is really difficult to get behind the importance of Rapidium, or really care about the characters outside of the immediate events. Which Alters are created and what comes of them seems to be quite readily in the hands of the player, and so I wound up saving only one of mine at the end of the game, as various conflicts and events led me to lose all others. This would be kind of neat if not for the fact that I felt like I'd encountered a bug that gave me a flat "Game Over, You Died" screen seemingly out of nowhere towards the end. Combined with other bugs, like resources and UI elements getting stuck inappropriately, the game wound up feeling increasinly frustrating toward its end. The Alters is difficult to review, since it has so much variation to how its characters might play out that a different player with a different attitude might get a very different experience out of the game. But with its lackluster core mechanics, I feel I can't recommend it even with its interesting and unique character mechanics. The rest of the game is just not interesting enough and, at least in my case, the ending felt vague and flat.
The Alters ogrywałem zarówno na premierę podstawki jaki i premierę dodatku Last Variable. Gra stanowi świeże podejście do tematu gier survival. Historia jest ciekawa z kolei mechanika alterów jest czymś co pierwszy raz mieliśmy okazję zobaczyć w gamingu. Dodatkowo oprawa muzyczna stanowi mocny atut. Fabuła podstawki bardziej do mnie trafiła aniżeli dodatku. The Alters daje 8/10 The Alters Last Variable daje 7,5/10
