Somehow I've not reviewed this yet. Guess I should do that. The campaign is a downright transcendent experience. The way in which the visuals and the music and the haptics come together around you while you're locked into the vaguely hypnotic flow state of a game of Tetris is nothing short of astonishing. It's doubly incredible in VR. It quite literally brought me to tears which I was not expecting. Protip: when selecting a difficulty level, you ideally want to choose something that requires a lot of your attention to stay alive, but where you know that so long as you're focused you won't have any trouble doing so. Topping out will break that flow state sensation, but also making the game too easy will have you literally looking around at things which isn't quite as surreal and impressive. Beyond that though, this is just a great Tetris game. One of the most versatile Guideline-compliant games out there and my preference for such a game these days. There's plenty of singleplayer and multiplayer modes to keep you occupied, and plenty of control and visual tweaks to dial in something to your liking. If you just want a Tetris game on Steam and you don't know which one to get, this is probably the one you want.

This isn't just VR Tetris. In addition to the dreamy, multi-thematic single-player Journey mode, this game also has many different game modes, both single player and multiplayer, to keep you hooked and practicing regardless of your skill level. This is the definitive Tetris experience of the 21st century.

Personal Rating: Very Positive (80%) It´s Tetris made in Unreal Engine! A must-have if you are a Tetris enthusiast like me. My favourite gememodes are Classic Score attack and Marathon (Endless) It´s been a year with this game and I still suck at level 19 speed on the Classic. :D

This game is exceptional. It's a shining example of what people mean when they say, "video games are art." Tetris Effect is not only visually stunning, but it has a fantastic soundtrack and the journey mode pushes the emotional limits of what a block-puzzle game can be. Aside from the main campaign in Journey mode, each of the Effect modes is unique, challenging, and has their own visual flair. From challenging affixes in modern Tetris all the way to the old-school Tetris rules, there is a mode for every vibe. I've played this game on several different platforms, but it absolutely shines on PC and in VR. The VFX are constantly awe-inducing and I can confidently say that this is the most breathtaking Tetris game ever made. 10/10. Colourful block game has never been better.
