cute cave exploration sim https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3656335497
8\10! Стоит попробовать!
Temple of the Green Moon: Prologue is a short first person horror game that throws me straight into a cave system in the Zhigulyov Mountains. I play as Alyona, a tourist who ends up trapped underground with strange creatures nearby, and my main goal is simply getting out alive. I have a flashlight, a few things to figure out and a lot of dark places that I probably do not want to walk into. The whole thing is pretty straightforward, but I like how quickly it gets to the point. I am not spending ages learning complicated systems before the horror actually starts. The atmosphere is easily the best part for me. The caves are dark, quiet and cramped, and the limited view from the flashlight makes me pay much more attention to what is around me. I never really feel comfortable while exploring because I know something can appear when I least expect it. The setting also gives the game a nice sense of mystery, especially because it is connected to the larger Temple of the Green Moon story and the strange legends surrounding the mountains. Even though this is only a prologue, I do get enough of that atmosphere to understand what kind of horror the full game is aiming for. The flashlight mechanic is a simple idea but it works well. I am not just using it to see where I am going because it can also scare away the creatures that are hunting me. That means I have to think about when I want to explore and when I need to be ready for something to show up. There are also some parkour sections and small puzzles, so I am doing more than just walking through dark tunnels. I like that balance because constantly hiding from enemies would get tiring, while constantly fighting them would take away some of the tension. The biggest problem is that this is very clearly a prologue. I only get one location to explore and it is mainly there to show me the basic mechanics and introduce the world. That makes it difficult for me to judge it like a full horror game because there simply is not enough here. The puzzles are also fairly simple and the survival elements are quite light, so I never feel like I am dealing with a deep system. I start to understand most of the mechanics pretty quickly, and by the time I am properly settled into the experience, it is already starting to feel like it is setting up what comes next. I also think the horror could be stronger in places. The caves create a good atmosphere, but some of the creature encounters do not always feel as scary as the setup suggests. Once I understand how the flashlight works, I have a fairly reliable way of dealing with the monsters, which takes away some of the uncertainty. The movement and parkour sections are useful for giving me something else to do, although they can feel a little basic. Still, I would rather have a simple system that works than a lot of extra mechanics that distract from the atmosphere. What I do appreciate is that the prologue actually gives me a decent taste of the main game's direction. The full Temple of the Green Moon has a much larger story involving a skeptical blogger, mysterious locations, photography, diary entries, different time periods and supernatural events, while this prologue uses Alyona and the caves to introduce some of the world and basic mechanics. That makes this feel more like a proper preview than a random demo that has little connection to the finished game. I also like that the prologue is completely free, because I can see what the developers are going for without having to spend anything. Overall, Temple of the Green Moon: Prologue is a decent little horror experience that works best as an introduction rather than a complete game. I like the dark cave setting, flashlight mechanic, creature encounters and the mystery surrounding the mountains, and the Unreal Engine presentation gives the environments a good amount of detail. The short length, simple puzzles and limited mechanics stop it from reaching the scores I give to much more complete horror games, but I still think it does enough to make me interested in the full experience. For a free prologue, it gives me a pretty good sample of the atmosphere and ideas behind Temple of the Green Moon. Rating: 7.3/10
