Reviews
This game HAS been ABANDONED and is NOT the version of the game you'll find YouTube reviews based on. Don't purchase this game. as it now stands v1.01d is just a shell of how beautiful and unique this game was.
Rushed 1.0 so they could abandon it but still say they "finished it" They didn't. I really enjoyed the game through out early access, then idk what happened, they just sort of rushed it out and gave up I guess. Save the cash and go on to something else.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Game has horrible performance and is abandoned by its devs. I haven't even been able to get it to load into a world in two years on this update. Go play Factorio, Satisfactory, Dyson Sphere Program, w/e else, just not this.
Game was fun a few updates ago.. unfortunately they changed it a lot.. what was once a Huge open map is now locked behind a progress elevator literally. it use to not be like this at all. once you'd get out of the beginning area you'd have this huge map that seemed to go one forever. now they cut in to a fraction and made it so you had to use an elevator to get to a new zone. which is just as small.. no way to play that way either which is highly disappointing
It has a nice start but it is abandoned and you can feel it. The story goes to nowhere, there are various performance issues. It is really sad to say this as I think this game was really promising but I would put it in the waste of money and time category.
This game is way better than the review score lets on. I believe most of the negative reviews are based on outside factors, and are not reflective of the game itself. The game is a great factory game, tons of content, some unique ideas to separate it from Factorio and Satisfactory. If you are a fan of those games, I HIGHLY recommend trying this one out, and ignoring the negative reviews until you give it a shot. If you're curious, the negative reviews stem from the handling of the game during Early Access, some changes that were unpopular, and a reduction in scope due to the game not having the funding they anticipated. But, again, what they created and what exists here today, is fantastic. The idea that it could have been bigger does not make this a bad game; nowhere near it. If you played during Early Access and expected more, it is understandable that the game didn't live up to what you expected. But if you're approaching it at 1.0 with no expectations, this is a fantastic addition to the automation genre. 100% worth the price and worth playing, coming from a huge fan of Factorio and Satisfactory.
If you are expecting an epic Underground Neon Satisfactory/Factorio you are not getting that.

Go buy Factorio, Satisfactory, Dyson Sphere Program, Foundry, Shapez2, Desynced instead.
Wow this is a complete bait and switch from early access! I just came back to finally give 1.0 a go and the devs have completely killed what made Techtonica early access amazing and the whole reason I even bought the game. I was hoping this game would essentially be a underground colorful Satisfactory like game where factory goods from different factories could be connected by the monorail. What you have now: Small areas (floors) connected by a central Elevator. That elevator is the only thing that connects floors for transportation. Gone is the giant map of endless possibilities, No need to have a monorail or any kind of transportation between factories because everything has been dumbed down to tiny maps and a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ elevator to transport it. Had Fire Hose Games actually stuck to their original format, not just slapped 1.0 on a product to call it complete because its obvious the game was dumbed the ♥♥♥♥ down and abandoned. They basically had one major content update, .5 and .6 were laser tag and custom modes that are not even in 1.0. People wanted an epic factory building game with your art style underground where they could build insane level factories (which was how the game was originally pitched). Had you pushed out more content updates, continued expanding the map, continued to make the scale epic the sales would have been better. But in buying Early Access people have often been burned by promises that are never delivered, myself included, a lot of people sit back and gauge how things go. Like, do they update the game often, are those updates adding FUN meaningful content that extends or expands the scope of the gameplay, map or mechanics? (Laser tag is not adding anything meaningful!) If Techtonica somehow has a No Mans Sky redemption arc where they go back to the original unrestricted version of the games vision with huge open multi level map that I could actually use a train system on, I will consider coming back to give it another go and maybe give a positive review. But I do not see that happening so until it does, Fire Hose Games is going to be set to IGNORED. It also seems the Techtonica Store page is misleading because most of the pictures of huge endless factories were pre 1.0 when you didn't have tiny maps chopped up separated by a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ elevator, buyer beware!
The game looks cool but the progression system is broken. The story is presented in an inaccessible way. You can't count on the game improving because it was abandoned by the developers. Don't buy this game!
A buggy mess. When it first came out, I played the dog pile out of it. It didn't have a great framerate, but I figured what the heck it's early access, they'll iron it out later. Nope! They made it worse. I have fairly high-end hardware and have no trouble with other games. I wanted desperately for them (devs) to get the game to a playable state but instead of listening to thousands of useful player feedback suggestions, they decided 'feature enhancements' were more important and essentially gave the community the middle finger. What a waste. Such a great experience until they released 1.0. Don't waste your time.
devs ruined the map it was great when it was all seamless but someone had the bright idea to make the map into levels. terrible design for a automation game. wanna go and see why your not getting enough mats? gotta load a new level. wanna go change something up to get different mats gotta load a level. stupid design . if you want a good automation game just go get satisfactory or factrio skip this. devs also stopped working on it and have no intention of coming back to the game so if you find a game breaking bug your out of luck.
