Single player : this game is great. Multiplayer, : after about elevator level 10 the lag makes the game unplayable. If you're playing alone and like factory games then this is definitely worth playing. If you want a factory game to play with your friends then stay away - the lag ruins the game later on. Such a shame as, in my opinion, the whole game is great and I like all the differences (multi level elevator, upgrade how you make things etc). I REALLY wish the developer would address the multiplayer lag and at least release a small patch. This is a gem of a game ruined by lag :-(
Hoo, boy. This game. I have many thoughts. Let me preface this by saying I am a big fan of similar games like Satisfactory, which is one of my favourite games of all time. Even without comparing Techtonica to it's competition, it has a lot of issues. Techtonica is an ambitious attempt at crafting an experience similar to something like Satisfactory where you are tasked with mining resources and building huge factories that process materials, but with more of an emphasis on story and level-based design. The game takes place entirely underground, and your goal is to dig your way out. The game contains some fantastic scenery including luminescent plants, waterfalls, and the ruined research labs of those that came before you. The music is fantastic - ambient and calming - and there there are several voiced characters to deliver the narrative exposition. There is a lot to like here, don't get me wrong. However, it falls VERY short of delivering a satisfying experience. The game is riddled with bugs, to start. There were multiple times when I had placed chests or conveyor belts, only to be unable to delete them afterwards. Similar small bugs kept occurring throughout my playthrough, and I'd need to restart the game every time something like this occurred to fix it. You are also sometimes just given blatantly incorrect information that was never corrected, including the locations of key items that you will need to progress. This can lead to a lot of aimless searching through levels trying to find certain scannable items, only to later find out that they were never in that level to begin with. If this only happened once or twice, I could forgive it, but I had to pull up google several times to learn that the game was giving me wrong information, and without looking things up I genuinely would not have been able to progress. To sum up a few more points, the game has baffling gameplay/design choices (such as when you are given access to certain technologies), a narrative that ended up feeling too convoluted to be satisfied with (at least in my opinion), and horrible CPU-related performance issues. I am not exaggerating when I say that a good chunk of my 140-hour playthrough was like watching a slideshow, with framerates dropping to 10-20fps. I could not get the game to perform any better by turning down any graphical settings (though with a 5070Ti for a GPU, you'd think I wouldn't have to). There were several times throughout the game where I was genuinely close to giving up on it entirely, but I pushed through because I felt like I had to at least see how the game ended after the progress I had made. Ultimately, I can't say it was worth doing so. Sadly, the game has been abandoned and it is unlikely any of these key issues will ever be fixed. Even after finishing the game and all of it's objectives, I cannot recommend Techtonica even to other fans of factory-building or automation-focused games unless you are reaaaaaally desperate for this type of experience and are willing to overlook a lot of problems.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Better games out there than this one. Try Factorio or Satisfactory

So sad to leave a negative review on this one, but, yeah, there are better factory automation games. This one was abandoned by the developer (see steam discussions) shortly after the 1.0 release, so it will never get any of the post-release bug fixes or balance updates that are sorely needed. The game had so much going for it while in early access, active devs, great community and a few new and interesting features that would really have made Techtonica stand out in the factory automation crowd. The voxel terrain deformation and voice acted story line were particularly good, and do still exist in the final state of the game. The biggest sore point though is the map. Gone is the open world that was a joy to explore, littered with story elements, secret areas and buried goodies. The one where you could build the sprawling factory of your dreams, weaving in and out of the terrain that you sculpted to fit just so. The map now is divided into small chunks, separated by an elevator you can send resources up and down in. Sorry, did I say small, I mean minuscule, these map chunks feel about as big as a Quake 3 arena map I made 25 years ago. I put in a few hours worth and tried to get used to it, but after 3 levels I just can't imagine building a factory here. And you can't progress much further in the game without it, so I don't think I'll be coming back. Even if you are interested in the very specific challenge of creating a series of small factories that link together to solve your automation problems, you'd be better off doing so in other, more feature complete and polished games. Unlike other reviewers I have no issue with the developer abandoning the game after the early access release, everybody's got to eat and sometimes we have to make hard choices. I feel for them having poured so much into Techtonica only to have it fall. I'm glad I supported them trying to make something innovative and interesting. But as the game stands would I recommend it to others? That is a firm no, spend your money elsewhere.
Keine Kaufempfehlung
It's dead Jim... So, do not buy. Amazing vibing factory/exploration game but unfortunately abandoned. If you don't mind throwing your money into the aether try it. The bits that are left are still enjoyable but your milage may vary. If the studio had been a bit more open about their struggle the community might have been able to help somehow. Like buying pointless DLCs to finance the thing but now its gone.
I liked it. Lots of people were complaining about the map changes from more open to smaller, self-contained levels, but honestly I thought it was a great way to handle zones and progression. Story was fun as well.
So...it doesn't work. Yeah tried several times to get the game to run and yeah - it's a no go on this one. Don't remember what I paid, but whatever it was, it certainly wasn't worth it - at all... Tried to return the game, however I guess I waited too long from the time I bought it to the time I actually found time to play it.
The 1.0 update ruined the game, I liked the map as a complete thing, not these nonsense elevators and different floors ! Thumbs DOWN !
