I don't have much to say about this Mega Man clone but I may as well take the chance to compare it to Rosenkreuzstilette. Unlike the latter, Tayal only takes the gameplay of Mega Man but adds up some original (I think) level design, I barely could notice any obvious homages to any of the original Mega Man titles, it only borrows its run and gun physics and core idea, which is essentially what makes a Mega Man game: 8 stage bosses with a final fortress level and special weapons. Speaking of special weapons, I liked how they compensate for the lack of tools that you usually start with and they do not impose their usage, meaning that you can beat the game without having to use them at all, I also liked how some of them may interact with the overworld and how collecting some secret items may give you access to their charged version as a reward. What I found interesting though, is the lack of potential with the "rush" items/weapons, as I found myself using them only once or twice during a normal playthrough just to reach a secret item. The level design didn't feel painful, as mentioned earlier it felt original, unlike in Rosenkreuzstilette where the design philosophy of each level and enemy obviously is meant to be as hardcore as in the original Mega Man games, in Tayal, things feel quite soft honestly. I believe little training is necessary to beat this game with no damage, my only problem was a mettaur looking enemy which left obstacles behind its path, which led me to find no better way to bypass them but to damage boost myself. I also found it weird that the game only drops HP heals and no weapon energy restoration items, as weapon energy passively regenerate with time, which made me worry less about spamming weapons and kinda made the game more fun to be honest. Story wise, the weak english translation does not make it hard for me to comprehend what's going on, since the visuals make up for it and help with the interpretation, especially for a super simple story to speak of. I disliked how you can not freely map the controller buttons, though I liked the addition of damage indicators and audio options. Some of the soundtrack's tunes were quite memorable, but the majority felt as if the composer was forced into making 8-bit tracks with little experience in the genre. It comes with a demo, which I haven't tried yet, though it's a nice thing to have if you wish to try the game before buying this cheap game, which comes with aprox. 6 hours of gameplay if you wish to clear everything, I think it may target not only Mega Man fans but anyone who may wish to have a nice intro, it does the job quite well.
