About

TaleSpire is a beautiful way to play pen and paper RPGs online. Bring your stories to life and embark upon campaigns together with your friends, regardless of where you are in the world.
With Talespire, the beauty and physicality of tabletop gaming meet the endless possibilities of a digital world. Here you can collaboratively build your worlds without compromising the handcrafted aesthetic of using traditional miniatures.
As a player, you can take on the mantle of multiple heroes and creatures, manage your stats, and express yourself using the growing emote system. Perform dice rolls directly on the board and interact with your environment — at least, as far as your GM will let you!
As a GM, you can dazzle and thrill your friends by building expansive maps, setting up shots, and controlling immersive soundscapes to bring all your delightful and devious designs to life.
TaleSpire is not tied to a specific game or ruleset. Whether you’re running a one-shot or a sprawling campaign, if it's on a square grid then we have your back. We are now in Early Access, so now is your chance to raise up your sword, rally your friends, and take your next adventure online with us.

Setting the stage for your story takes no time at all with Talespire, but even if you forget to prep, it can all be added in while you play. Want to destroy a wall to reveal a secret passage? Do it! Want to rain down piles of gold from the heavens? You have the power. At any moment during your adventure, you (or multiple GMs) can jump into building mode and change the world without interrupting anything else. Our persistent online boards can be created at a moment’s notice, and everything is synchronized in real-time as you dice-roll your way to glory.

It’s dangerous to go alone, but luckily we have a bunch of tools that can help, and all are as pleasing as they are useful. Beautiful dice, rulers and area markers, a range of emotes, and special modes for turn-based combat and cinematic sequences are at your disposal.
Pick from a plethora of pieces to create your scenes! The current roster stands at 280 miniatures, 2100 tiles and props, and 60 unique audio tracks. Our library is ever-expanding; we produce fresh asset packs every month.
TaleSpire boards are designed to be easily shared, whether with friends or with the wider community on sites like TalesBazaar or TalesTavern. You can copy sections of your boards (slabs) and paste them as text outside of TaleSpire. Simply paste the text back into TaleSpire to summon the slab to your hand.
Being in Early Access we still have plenty of adventures ahead of us. We have an active Discord community, which you can find in the social section, and alongside your feedback we’re looking forward to developing the game’s features. So come, journey with us a while.

Buenísima forma de jugar a D&D
The recent performance updates have made a truly colossal difference in how my computer handles this software. Even with a 3080ti, when loading anything with more than a few hundred assets - it sounded like a jet engine was spooling up on my desk. This resource management overhaul allows for much more dynamic world-shaping, letting you stack slabs and assets in new ways to make more complex shapes without melting your gpu.

Удобный иснтуремнт для создания 3D карт, игроки могут даже не покупать, демки хватит, только ГМ должен "месста" покупать
Extremely useful and the toolsets are well implemented. Perfect for any RPG.
I'm a bit conflicted on this. I've been a DM for ten years and primarily have worked with Forge, and I've used other tools such as Dungeon Alchemist and array of other mapping tools. I'd say give this some time to bake a bit further, but it's still EA and it's been kicking about since 2021. I think this tool is a great idea, I truly do, and the tool does have good implementations and features. However, there's many basic features that you'd expect out of a VTT or mapping tool, that just isn't here. Couple it with the fact you'll have to use another tool to facilitate any rule set. Yeah, you can self-calculate everything, but that kind of detracts from having a VTT. The implementation also feels clunky at times, where kind of expected user experience isn't there... For example, you can select a group of tiles, instead of being able to drag and drop that group, I have to cut the group to move it? I also can't delete the grouping by hitting delete, but I have to cut it and then right click to delete it? I'm nit picking but, it just kind of shows how the logic is kind of, off. There is no sizing, there are no decals, there is no drawing. There's no text tools. You also can't tint or change the lighting of objects. I tried importing several magic circles from the community content, and the things were so damn bright it hurt to look at. A lot of details I could add via a 2D VTT, I just can't replicate in this tool. Nor are there assets available to fill that void.
Really cool, useful, and easy to use tool once you learn and become familiar with the controls. I got this program years ago and back then they didn't have many assets and so I found it to be promising but needing more. Yesterday the topic of needing a 3d map came up and I remembered Tale Spire and wanted to revisit it. I think that It has grown an incredible amount and now has enough assets(and a community library) and functionality to suit my needs. I like it a lot. It's very easy to quickly throw an idea together, and the amount of features directly tied to the minis are phenomenal. My downsides/critiques: - This is my biggest and most frustrating gripe and what motivated me to write this review: I dont understand why network access is required in order to use the program. I am writing this as the network went down while I was in the middle of building out a board. No other players in my session and not using or browsing community content. So now I can't work on my project. I think I would prefer to have it be offline by default and have to connect to the network when I am inviting + hosting players or wanting to view community assets. - I wish there was an anchor point in the selection cubes that you can make, both just for selection and the ones that obscure assets from the board as a kind of fog of war. I've made a couple of these shapes and don't mind the way you have to grab the sides to change the shape, but I wish there was a central anchor point to be able to pick up and move the whole thing as an established piece so I don't have to fiddle with it as much if I need to adjust the placement. - Slightly related to this, I am not sure if it already exists as a feature but it I couldn't figure out a way to do it if so-it would be nice if I could change the vertical direction of the cone ruler. As far as I can tell the cone ruler only moves and displays on the horizontal plane it is drawn on, and thus can not emulate a character aiming up into the sky or down from a cliff. - I really like that you can noclip assets into eachother and make non-mini assets into minis. I wish that you could resize assets the same way you can resize minis, and I wish there was the ability to have finer grid snapping. As it is, the "default" tile size of the grid is 2x2. Floor tiles are very forgiving about overlapping eachother but vertical/wall tiles and doors do not like snapping into .5x.5 unit spaces across the 2x2 grid border. There are many .5x.5 size wall pieces so this can be worked around, but its just a little bit of extra friction that feels unnecessary. - 1x1 tiles are actually 1x1 OR .5 x .5. I am assuming the way that an asset is assigned 1x1 vs 2x2 is due to the fact that a default size mini fits into a 1x1 space, but going by the way that assets can be placed a 1x1 tile is actually 2x2 placeable tile units of space. You can see this in their preview images on this store page, there are walls listed as both being 1x1, but they are visibly different sizes. Overall this is a nonissue and doesnt really impact my ability to use the program at all. Its just a little odd. - As far as I could tell there is no way to customize the look of your dice. I am not expecting any crazy texturing but it would be nice to be able to choose the colors of my die.
Great for building realistic battlefields where positioning and range matter. Very cool
No better tool for D&D Exists. I only own one copy and use it for my in-person game of 5-6 players. Some of the players bought seats, and even bring a steam deck to control their characters during my narrative! I wish steam deck controls were better implemented, but this is one of the greatest tools. Even if you have no incentive to spend hours building maps, entire chunks or game boards that people put dozens to hundreds of hours into are available for import through the game and even on talestavern online if you want to import boards with just one click! The potential for homebrew characters is limitless, you can download very many actor models , much more than I can ever financially attain realistically.
