About

TaleSpire is a beautiful way to play pen and paper RPGs online. Bring your stories to life and embark upon campaigns together with your friends, regardless of where you are in the world.
With Talespire, the beauty and physicality of tabletop gaming meet the endless possibilities of a digital world. Here you can collaboratively build your worlds without compromising the handcrafted aesthetic of using traditional miniatures.
As a player, you can take on the mantle of multiple heroes and creatures, manage your stats, and express yourself using the growing emote system. Perform dice rolls directly on the board and interact with your environment — at least, as far as your GM will let you!
As a GM, you can dazzle and thrill your friends by building expansive maps, setting up shots, and controlling immersive soundscapes to bring all your delightful and devious designs to life.
TaleSpire is not tied to a specific game or ruleset. Whether you’re running a one-shot or a sprawling campaign, if it's on a square grid then we have your back. We are now in Early Access, so now is your chance to raise up your sword, rally your friends, and take your next adventure online with us.

Setting the stage for your story takes no time at all with Talespire, but even if you forget to prep, it can all be added in while you play. Want to destroy a wall to reveal a secret passage? Do it! Want to rain down piles of gold from the heavens? You have the power. At any moment during your adventure, you (or multiple GMs) can jump into building mode and change the world without interrupting anything else. Our persistent online boards can be created at a moment’s notice, and everything is synchronized in real-time as you dice-roll your way to glory.

It’s dangerous to go alone, but luckily we have a bunch of tools that can help, and all are as pleasing as they are useful. Beautiful dice, rulers and area markers, a range of emotes, and special modes for turn-based combat and cinematic sequences are at your disposal.
Pick from a plethora of pieces to create your scenes! The current roster stands at 280 miniatures, 2100 tiles and props, and 60 unique audio tracks. Our library is ever-expanding; we produce fresh asset packs every month.
TaleSpire boards are designed to be easily shared, whether with friends or with the wider community on sites like TalesBazaar or TalesTavern. You can copy sections of your boards (slabs) and paste them as text outside of TaleSpire. Simply paste the text back into TaleSpire to summon the slab to your hand.
Being in Early Access we still have plenty of adventures ahead of us. We have an active Discord community, which you can find in the social section, and alongside your feedback we’re looking forward to developing the game’s features. So come, journey with us a while.

Reviews
TaleSpire promises an ambitious digital tabletop experience, letting players manage heroes, creatures, and dice rolls while exploring handcrafted worlds with friends online. When joining a game run by someone else, it can be enjoyable, and the tools for player interaction—emotes, dice, and environment effects—can add some flair to sessions. But that’s where the positives largely end. Four years in Early Access, and the game still struggles with basic usability and technical stability. Map creation is a nightmare for newcomers: there’s no meaningful tutorial, and even simple layouts feel like a puzzle designed for developers rather than players. Textures can warp into the void, giving an eye-stabbing illusion of a broken screen, and virtual dice often disappear off-map with no way to reset or remove them. Small annoyances like these pile up, turning what should be a creative sandbox into a frustrating trial. In short, TaleSpire is functional if you’re a player along for the ride, but building your own worlds is a punishing experience. The potential is there, but the execution still feels rough and unfinished, making it hard to recommend to anyone hoping to do more than click through someone else’s creation. Score: 5/10 – Fun to play, painful to create.

With 350+ Hours in Talespire and DMing 4 campaigns, I can say that the Talespire team has somthing really special here. They have consistantly put out Updates with fresh content and there hardwork really shows. 2 1/2 years ago I would have honestly considered this a mediocre map creator but with all of the additions they have added sense then, Ive fallen in love with it. I Love having a visual when i play dnd because it helps me fall into rollplay alot easier and im sure people who think the same exist, and this is a perfect tool for that. 10/10 Happily see you in another 350 Hours
For the low low price of all your money you too can spend all day using D&D beyond instead of it to make your rolls because this VTT doesnt have *anything* for tracking a characters or resources.
I realized I've been using TaleSpire for 3-4 years now and haven't written any review yet, but now that I have more than 400 hours invested in this software, I gotta say if you're still thinking about it.. just buy it. I love TaleSpire as it provides great visual and immersion for our D&D games. The updates keep coming, me and my group love to use Hero Forge minis in our games as well. We are very visual ppl and TaleSpire is a blessing for us. As a group that are based in 3-4 different timezones playing online, TaleSpire will always be my first choice for DMing. I love hide volume feature that allows me to hide things to my players. We didn't buy seats, we just bought it as it's a one-off purchase as it's really worth the price. Thank you, Bouncyrock. You made our game wonderful. I hope you add more 1920s era assets as well so I can use it more playing Call of Cthulhu! Or other TTRPGs <3
This virtual tabletop is great for designing, and not for playing. You can load hundreds and hundreds of custom made, user made, levels and maps. They can be as simple as a road or as complex as entire villages and cities. And that part is great. However to play with ONE other person using a custom mini they created, you'll need to pay $55 before tax. Talespire: $24.99 Talespire 1 Seat: $15 Heroforge Subscription: $14.99 Talespire uses a nifty option to add seats to a campaign which can be paid for by the game owner or by the player. It also allows for custom hero forge minis to be loaded into the game. But HeroForge has this export ability locked behind a subscription for 5 mini exports a month. And that is a hard limit, so to do 6 minis you'd need two fully subscribed accounts. A tabletop campaign with a GM and 5 players, if each wanted their own characters mini, plus the GM's custom NPCs(up to 5) would cost a whopping $120. The base game, two HeroForge subscriptions, and 5 player seats (4 pack at $50 + 1 $15 seat) The best way to use this game is as JUST the map, while streaming the view of the GM to the players in discord. Otherwise, you could buy 6 copies of Tabletop Sim at full price and play every other game on the workshop as well as your Tabletop game, with custom minis and seats for everyone.
