Tadpole Treble

this was one of the only games i had on my wii u. mostly bought this for old time's sake. it's fun. it's cheap. give it a play

This game's simple charm, groovy soundtrack, and solid gameplay makes for a great rhythm-game-like romp. It doesn't boast a ton of levels, but that is kind of to its strength. You can beat the whole game in like 60 minutes or less so it suggests to me to play it through when I need a bit of a refresher on life, you know? Baton is the tadpole that you are helping to find her parents again. She got lost and swam a bit too far away... don't we all do that at times though? In the midst of that struggle we go through Snowflake Lakes and Bombastic Bayous, and on our own adventures we'll probably make some mistakes... but that doesn't change who we are, or what we are capable of. Tadpole Treble teaches this well, while also throwing in some fun theatrics and a cartoony vibe that in some ways reminds me of The Cuphead Show. Your journey feels long and short and when you get home you are overjoyed and all is good. It makes me think a lot about my life. The game moves in stages and it's easy for me to remember memories from childhood, middle school, etc. as I ponder on my own journey while playing this. So yeah, kind of went all over the place there but this game is certainly worth your time, and repeated playthroughs. People have argued that the gameplay isn't like other rhythm games and they would be right. The gameplay loop isn't perfect, and no one was asking it to be. It is simply Baton, and Baton is more than good enough in my opinion.
