posting after finishing the campaign, i haven't played any of the skirmish maps yet a pretty good, tight strategy rpg with quick-to-learn mechanics that feel second nature to anyone who's played the genre before. pretty fun story in the campaign as well!
You know what? This game is pretty dang fun. It's got polish and novel mechanics and interesting scenario missions that force you to use all your characters and their unique abilities. There's only a little bit of build variety -- you decide who goes in your party for each mission and
you unlock "emblems" that you can attach to your party members before each combat
. It's still pretty engaging. There is only one difficulty seeing. The combat is challenging enough that I've had to restart most of the later missions once or twice. I don't think there's a lot of replay value here but I needed my grid-turn-based-tactics fix and Superstar Strategy deliverers on fun combat. There's a multiplayer mode that I don't intend to try out, but it's there if you want it. The story is nothing to write home about -- it doesn't get in the way, and I'm here for the combat anyway. A solid addition to my library. Runs perfectly on Steam Deck.
