For the price its pretty good: pretty much a budget DQ 3/4 experience with lots of wandering and discovery. Has various settings to move fast / battle faster, a large variety of monsters (though most of them just are cannon fodder after awhile), and a simple story that moves relatively quickly by itself and, while cliche, isn't terrible. Think of it as more or less a travel rpg: explore new places, find new problems, solve a local issue, move on, etc. Also has a new game plus, but I think its more of a victory lap and does not include any new challenges though I cannot be sure due to a lack of information. Money is actually useful in this game, and you end up having to budget / hunt down bounties and delve dungeons to sell artifacts to get enough for endgame gear. Inventory management is decently simple and you can stack nearly everything to 99 on each character, with an inventory size that I'm not sure how big because it never ever actually filled for me 8+ pages in. Theres also a quick way to train up party members which are lagging behind, up to basically your highest levels, with enough cash. Though I might have preferred also getting experience for them as well. The problems: 1: There are some polish issues: missing translations on a few lines, showing a character outside the party after they join, etc 2: Simplistic character differences - for the most part, each character is basically just a flavor reskin with a different element, and some different stats, other than the specific healer/debuffer/buffers which have those specific spells added. 3: Equipment choices could be better - Each weapon acts exactly the same, more or less. There are a handful of choices of which other equipment to actually use here and there so its not like there are none though. 4: Stale npc drops: npcs dont drop any gear, and basically only drop improved healing/mp items and the 2 universal upgrade items 5: Instead of super bosses/optional content it seems like all that is rolled into the actual difficulty of the last few fights, which are increeeeedibly brutal (and more or less require having explored most of the map to find gear, and a fair bit of grinding where necessary). 6: Party dynamics - you don't get a wagon like DQ 4 / your party extras don't get to replace members mid combat at all, but you can use their skills (healer) outside of battles or do swaps outside midway thru a dungeon when your mainline gets low. Missed opportunity I think. Overall a still good experience and certainly worth the price tag if you like these kinds of games.
