I initially bought it because it was essentially a 3D Rimworld clone. I thought copying so much of the core gameplay was a smart move at the beginning, you are instantly familiar with the UI which lowers the entry barrier. This obviously raises the question of their own creative output being a copycat in many aspects and therein lies the ironic fate of the copycat.. The developers never had a long-term vision to establish their own identity or add meaningful innovations that would justify choosing this over the original. Every time I played, I found myself asking "why am I not just playing Rimworld instead?"
Like most Paradox games, it is largely abandoned in a completely unfinished state. It's a 1-to-1 copy of base game Rimworld, excpet it relies on expeditions to get anything done, and the only enemy type is the bugs, which means there is 0 challenge, since you can stand on top of your basse, meaning nothing can ever attack you. The higher level researches are entirely granted to you by the event system giving you the option to go them, and also the event system largely stops working after year 2 so if you didn't get the ones you needed you're just ♥♥♥♥♥♥. The circuit system, intended to allow you to make sure your base doesn't use power 100% of the time, actually does nothing, it doesn't work, I tried looking up why and no one knows. Structures randomly block each other off on completely different floor, such as floodlights not being buildable on top of freezers. Drones randomly won't get some things. Batteries are entirely useless because the charge they hold is minimal compared to the cost to build them. Some characters can just cheese the entire game, like Rita's uncanny ability to get me the nanotube research within 5 expeditions every single time. The wind turbine can get stuck at 10% power output for 5 days straight. The wind turbine never goes to full power. The characters can't walk across the map of their own base without constantly trying to get back to base. The characters need regular micromanagement because they get stuck on one task for hours. Teh characters refuse to self heal, even though they can, probably because it trivializes all injuries. The speed up button is ridiculously slow. The mood system largely makes no sense and everything is a "ate without a table" level of nonsense. Grain is OP and does basically everything. The mechanic where everything breaks over time is very silly and basically just a troll toll for your higher value ressources. You can't tame the glutch even though you obviously want to tame the glutch. The targeting hates the edges of roofs If you own the game, do play it, it is just Rimworld but worse. But don't buy it. Not until they patch it.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I used to like this game, but ever since Paradox bought it, it's been crashing after a few minutes of play time.
It crashes after character selection screen. I tried 2 different pcs same result, refund requested.
can't control the priority of different item (tasks) within the same category (construct, mine, plant... etc) I like 3D and more realistic. but I don't like the problem above, age-limited (40ish days per year & human age the same) no underground Still a good game tho
It is very shallow compared to its competitors.
Another great game by Haemimont, in my humble opinion. My previous experience with them as developers has been the Tropico series, and their game Surviving Mars, both of which have been quite enjoyable for me. I myself have yet to play Rimworld, but it appears that this game is quite similar to that. After getting through the game and understanding its mechanics, I believe it seems slightly simple for me. However, the modding community has me covered on this one, what with Beyond Stranded and similar mods on the workshop. On the topic of the future of this game: Surviving Mars, much like this game, was acquired by Paradox at some point, after which Paradox put a different company to develop DLC for that game. Seemingly, Haemimont are currently focusing on the Relaunched version of Surviving Mars. It's therefore possible Paradox is going to do the same to this game, putting a different dev team in charge of developing DLCs for this game. If that happens, I'd most likely advise you exercise caution purchasing future DLCs. What is here right now however is great in my opinion. It may not have the depth or DLCs like that of Surviving Mars' Green Planet DLC, but it is quite fun and something I will continue playing for a while longer.
It's ok. The AI and priority settings doesn't seem to work as intended most of the time. No matter how many people I have there is always some kind of deficiency in production. I probably suck at this game I just feel it shouldn't be a chore to keep my base operating smoothly. The base building is very satisfying and I really like the natural progression when it works. Having to stop everything and defend my base losing a day of production really throws a wrench in things and tends to leave me perpetually behind until my inevitable demise. Given its age I would expect a more cohesive experience per my personal tastes.
Haemimont Games are absolute scammers, do not buy their games! Delisting a game from steam only to "re-release" it for 40 euro's is criminal and should not be allowed to happen. Disgusting practices almost worthy of rivalling EA and Ubisoft. I hope your company goes bankrupt soon.
Just too much of micromanagement and trying to persuade people to do certain things. It starts great but as game scales it becomes too tedious and player must somehow persuade those people to do certain things in exact order. It sucks all the joy as people become stupid and unable to do basic things. Assigned priorities are great, until game scales when they become meaningless. For Linux players: if game crashes, try to turn off reflections, it can help.
