This episode was just okay. Had some issues with door mechanics and English grammar, but overall a creepy atmosphere and cheeky jump scares :)
Technically, Downhill Cemetery was the first one I tried to play, but it was broken. So this is the first one I got to play to its entirety. For a free game, I was very impressed. This was creepy, very F2F-like. I love episodic horror and 'based on a true story' horror. Very good. Looking forward to more. Check out my gameplay here: https://youtu.be/Q_zifar0JZs

As always with these types of games, people are crying that it looks like FTF, that's not a problem in itself... Some problems could be: The game is really short, it barely has any lore, and the jump scares are just here for the sake of it (that's the only "good" horror element in the game too) Overall it is not a bad game considering it's free, but it is not good either. As someone who wanted to get "Downhill Cemetery" by the same dev, which isn't free, I'll try the second free episode "Greyville Stay" before deciding, if it's the same quality, it's definitely a no. Props to the dev for making the first 2 games free tho', there are a lot of devs who make us pay even for games of this quality or less. Edit : I literally just started "greyville stay" after posting this review, I didn't notice in the first game that the dev is 15 years old (14 at the first game release?), while it doesn't change the game's quality, it's impressive that he did that at his age, i could have never done that.
Warning: Asset Flip! Stories to Tell [Alpha 1] - Run Away is one of literally thousands of creatively bankrupt asset flips infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere.
This is yet another first person horror adventure jumpscare asset flip. A bunch of stock assets (a house in this case), a monster, a creepy atmosphere made from the cheapest assets money can buy/download off free stock asset sites, and, amazingly, no quality whatsoever. Stories to Tell [Alpha 1] - Run Away is partially or completely made up of stock assets, "borrowed" from asset stores and free asset websites. Little, if anything in this game is the creation of the "developer". While there's no up front price for this asset flip, the other problem with asset flips is that when developers aren't capable of doing their job and creating high quality assets, it's also true they can't do any of the rest of the job of a game developer either. That's definitely true for "Stories to Tell [Alpha 1] - Run Away", and this kind of asset flipping never results in games that have quality or value for PC gamers. The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever. Gamers can tell... and it comes across as insincere. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. This is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 15 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuR2p0pRg-Y YouTube is crap, but this game wasn't. Yes, it's very short, but it's FREE and a fun way to kill about 15 mins. The creator of these games was like 15 when he made this, it's impressive so ignore the hateful people. If you like psychological horror with genuine, never stage reaction and you don't mind me being a little tipsy then check my channel out, I'd love to have you.
