Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
Pros: Artstyle & Animation: The art is amazing! The animation flows smoothly, and both the backgrounds and cutscenes are visually captivating. The game's aesthetic is charming, and it’s clear a lot of effort was put into making the world feel alive and dynamic. Concept: The blend of platformer and arena beat 'em up is a fantastic choice. It brings together the best of both worlds, with tight action sequences and strategic movement. There's a lot of potential here for exciting combat encounters. Music: The soundtrack is top-notch. It complements the gameplay perfectly, enhancing the overall atmosphere of the game. The music makes each encounter feel more engaging and energetic. Cons: Combat Mechanics: The combat still feels stiff, especially during combo execution. There’s a noticeable pause after landing from a jump, and player movement is interrupted while performing a combo. This kills the flow of combat and makes the gameplay feel slower than it should be. Quick recovery is a critical mechanic for fast-paced action games, yet it’s locked behind expensive upgrades (800exp 💀). It would be great if this was something players could access earlier to improve the pacing of combat. Enemy Invincibility: Minion enemies seem to get a frustrating invincibility period when they’re getting up. This breaks the flow of combat, especially when you're trying to chain attacks. I understand it for bosses, but for regular enemies, this feels unnecessary and disruptive. Floaty Physics: Everything feels way too floaty when launched into the air. The enemies, player, and even furniture behave like paper, which takes away from the satisfaction of launching foes. It also makes it difficult to land precise air combos. A little more gravity or weight would go a long way in making combat feel more impactful. Sound Design: The sound effects and voice work feel underwhelming. For example, the SFX for extreme movements are kinda dull, and they don’t do much to the impressive visuals. When performing powerful moves, the lack of impactful sound really takes away the experience, leaving it feeling less satisfying than it should. Conclusion: While the game has a fantastic foundation with its stunning art, engaging concept, and great music, the combat feels clunky and the lack of sound impact detracts from the overall experience. If these issues are addressed, it could easily become a standout title. As it stands, it’s enjoyable for now, but has a lot of room for improvement.

I can't say much besides this game is very prettyyyyyyy! The story is delivered through charming hand-drawn animation and cutscene. I can sniff a sad story from the beginning, but hey if one or more tears is what it takes I'm down for it. Pros: Stella, tomboy girl, mechanic, yes. For the colosseum part: I love interacting with the tournament spectator (never mind the bonus popularity!) The combat somehow feels stiff, when I push a button it's not reacting as fast as I would like. It's more of uncomfotable rather than frustrating. But overtime, I get used with the pacing and able to complete it. For the exploring part: It's fun to see the animation for background characters in the city, it feels lively and immersive. I can't wait to explore the full game. Hopefully we can get some good side quest here!
After having just beat the tutorial, and had a stroll around the town. From what little I've seen so far there are absolutely the bones of something extremely fun here. A lot of different ways to upgrade or challenge oneself in the fights. Not to mention the absolutely beautiful art style. It's a brawler that really let's you feel like a badass once you get a good rhythm going.
I don't like to yap a lot so i'll get straight to the point You'll get a highly stylized action platformer game that has interesting and potentially deep in-game lore and lovable characters with an art style that are designed to captivate the players. In the current state, however, it still suffers some technical issues such as frame drop and some minor but annoying bugs like enemy stuck outside of arena after being sent outside. Overall, 7/10, I will still recommend this game because of its potential. May the devs got what they need to finish this game.
the hand-drawn art and animation are soo fun and full of life it's such a joy to play!!! 🌟 the premise and narrative seems promising so far, i look forward to the full version!!
If you can maintain the quality of the first area throughout the game in the final game, this will be a pretty amazing game! I enjoyed the first part a lot, despite the translation needing a bit of a clean up. Combat was pretty exciting, though spongy until you get used to combos. But overall a steal on sale. But I hope the final game will have a bit more story and a smoother transition after the first stage. Going from excellent and linear to seemingly random? Seemed under construction? Anyway, wish the devs luck and hoping they can slowly realize their dream!
It's been a while since I've played a 2D hack-and-slash game, and StellaGale reminds me how much the genre is fun. Not only it's fun, but also intriguing as the game is heavy on its narrative. It's also supported by unique and captivating art and animation it's visually pleasing to look at. There are some grammatical errors but it is understandable as English is not the developer's first language. However, I find the inconsistent and rather messy writing an unpleasant experience during my playthrough. It's as if the script wasn't QC-ed before it was released. Which is kind of a shame considering the narrative overall is already intriguing. Alas, it's still in early access, so there is still room for it to grow and become a better and more enjoyable game. I'm looking forward to more updates. Good luck to the developer!
This is one of the best games I've played in 2025. I've been following since it was just a short demo and was immediately in love with how much dedication the devs poured into this brilliant project. The story, even just the bit we could glance in the OP, is already extremely intriguing. The futuristic war references were completely beyond my original expectation, thinking this would only be set in a Fantasy/steampunk world. The animation is smooth, and I love the hand-drawn qualities everywhere. If anything, I do hope there would be a little more voice overs for crutial cut scenes, but even without those, what's there right now is already more than sufficient. The quality and attentiveness of this game is simply beyond so many that may have been developed by a larger team or with way more funds.
