Artstyle has improved, the color theme is good. I didn't like the ending, but gameplay and puzzles are great
super
My hot take is yes steamworld dig 2 is a good game, but its about on par with the first. I dont think this is a huge improvement on the original. It does some things better and some things worst. Its much better paced with more exciting abilities and more variety in areas. A huge trade off though is that the actual digging barely matters here. You basically out grow having to dig as a necessity pretty early on. It becomes more a hindrance than a perk of the game. So maybe everything is better but is it really Dig 2 if the digging barely matters? Still a good game though besides having a horrifically poorly designed final boss.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

i like this series
Having not played any other SteamWorld games: The gameplay is basically a good metroidvania. This part is good - good enough to get it an overall thumbs-up. Plenty to explore, well-done ambiance, enemies that are interesting but not dangerous on their own. Interesting terrain, and good-feeling traversal options, and a wealth of meaningful upgrades you can experiment with and weigh against each other. Plenty of optional caves that explore a mechanic or a theme or make a puzzle out of game elements, and then reward you with useful stuff. The art's good - the areas are visually distinct and readable, and the backgrounds do a good job of making some of the areas feel quite cavernous (which is tricky in a 2D game). The overarching story - especially the ending - fell flat for me. This was my biggest gripe, but I can't go into details to avoid spoiling stuff. The townspeople exist, but spend most of their time just being a menu of useful things. Sometimes they get new dialog when you reach parts of the story. They've got personalities, but they don't really feel *alive* - they don't give quests, or interact with each other, or reward you with much for talking to them (not even much lore). Overall I give it a "good experience, not an all-time fave"
GOOD DIG
