About

An entire universe awaits you in Stars Reach. In this science-fantasy MMORPG, you'll visit strange, new worlds, become an explorer, and build a life on planets that react to everything you do. Your choices will change your world. And, you'll do it with every other player on a single server. Leave your mark on the galaxy!
Each world responds to your actions. A deep, reactive simulation allows water to flow naturally, forests to burn, and lava to harden into new materials and land masses. From lush forests to winding rivers to perilous mountains, every planet has its own ecosystems, resources, and challenges. Your decisions determine what resources are available to you, how wildlife reacts, and ultimately which settlements prosper.
Planets are living systems. Your decisions determine what resources are available to you. Climate changes, creatures migrate, disasters strike, and the world reacts in ways you can’t fully control.
Travel through wormholes to discover new worlds, explore, build, survive, and thrive. Every planet begins untouched. What it becomes is up to you.
Master one of dozens of skill paths, and live the galactic life you’ve always dreamed. Whether you want to protect settlers as a ranger, build a trade empire, or offer your services as an architect, Stars Reach offers many skill paths that allow you to chart a course through space that fits your play style. There are different weapons to master. There’s a career path just for you in Stars Reach.
You’re not locked into any single playstyle. Experiment with different skill paths and find the combination that suits you best. Build your own class from different skill sets and define your role in the galaxy.
Your first steps onto a new world take you far beyond the familiar. You’ll need to adapt to your surroundings by learning to survive. Every skill path has accompanying equipment, which you’ll gain proficiency with by using those tools.
More importantly, your contributions to the community will increase your proficiency. A camp you build will earn you experience when others rest at it. Community means survival, and we’ve built Stars Reach to support pro-social behavior and limit the ability for other players to ruin your experience through griefing.
You can build a cozy cottage on a remote hill, and carve out a living by yourself. But if you crave community, team up to build settlements and cities, shape how they grow, and decide how they are governed.
Team up and claim a large plot of land that isn’t just a home base. You and your friends can cluster your homesteads, build a community, and govern together.
The resources you gather can be sold in a unified galactic economy driven by players. Or, you can use them to craft tools and technology to supply distant worlds with vital goods necessary for their survival.
Trade with players across the galaxy, specialize in what you make, and become a master of your craft and earn renown across the galaxy.
Your choices determine what comes next.
Cities grow or decline, ecosystems shift, wildlife becomes extinct, and resources are used up or recover based on what you do. Protect the environment and its inhabitants, or strip mine it for profit. Other players live with the results of what you leave behind.
This is Stars Reach! What will you become?

I had high hopes for this game but it's just not ready. I lasted about 23 minutes as it was boring and moving seemed sluggish. Might check back in the future but right now it a PASS from me.
A sandbox mmo in the style of Star Wars Galaxies, Anarchy Online, and Ryzom. If you love games like that, you'll probably enjoy Stars Reach. If not now, then definitely in the near future. The game needs further optimization and many features are works in progress, but I'd encourage you to try out the core gameplay loop a few times, explore the different planets, and check out the massive crafting and skill trees.

DO NOT BUY THIS/WILL BE DEAD AT THIS RATE BEFORE 1.0.. Starting Onboarding: A few quests, mostly you have to click people, an get some crap you dont need. Learn a few basics, run around scanning things to fill out a collections list. Etc. Enjoy that first planet, because the second you make the mistake of going into space your SOL. Currently the only thing you can do once you finish Haven, is grind the same missions over and over again for a few hundred credits. Work to 20k, so you can build a base, an actually start doing stuph. Not a fun/amazing ark. Combat: A small child , building a Roblox experience has more depth. Lions, Tigers, Bears, Deer. You point, hold down the botton.. an wait for the monster to die. Monsters, are magic though. They throw randomly colored blobs at you, or arc them around. No real animations past 2 seconds convulsions, maybe an AoE. All random blobs of different colors. Monsters constantly glitch out into the ground, an become piles of twitching light shows. You can upgrade your skills, but they serve ZERO point. There is no loot, just resources, an its almost all pointless. Get a box every now an then with some materials an credits. Its just mindless, Roblox level of experience. Child click bait, nothing more. World Building: I mean some of the planets are nifty, its mostly really WEIRD landmasses. Lot of pointless verticallity , an just jank. Some of the harvestables look decent, but its all willy nilly thrown all over the place. This is not SWG, you are not feeling the cohesion of a ' new planet '. Maybe its an ice world, an you now slide around stuck in the same animation as you move. Also with worldbuilding comes traversal. The grapple doesn't work overly well. Its functional, but so poorly implemented its just something you randomly smash to move a bit faster, or get a bit higher. If you ever played Conan, Dune, or Dragons Dogma. Imagine those climbing systems, if they were programmed by a blind bat smashing into a keyboard tapped to the wall. There are moments where you can climb, but mostly you just jump around slowly going up. Or trying to catch yourself as you fall. There is no weight, no functional , trustable system. Sometimes it works, mostly it does not. So just grapple JUMP all over the place till you get on top of something. Homesteading.. thats gated behind paying at least 20k.. SO make sure you GRIND a ton before you leave the starter zone. The world sculpting/harvesting is absolute horror show. You just MELT the world, an randomly get crap for doing it (unless you scanned and found something in particular). If you have played, or seen ENSHROUDED. Its that system, if it was designed by a small child. Here it is literally ' rock and stone ', while that game is a Quantum Computer. Its just bad, an I dont see it getting better. Maybe under it all the systems are amazing, but no normal player is gonna see that. Or stay long enough to see the ' magic '.. Bugs: I have survey the planet.. the map is no longer visible. So I can see 54/60 points, no way to see which ones I am missing. Multiple ' missions ' have been bugged. I have falled through the ground a bunch of times. There are underground areas that bug you out, so you have to crouch walk at 1/1000th the speed. More but frustrated, on how terrible an experience this game actually is. There is a reason it barely peaked at under 700, an can't keep more then a few hundred. If you want that old SWG feels, then go pick up one of the private server versions. This has NOHTING in common with them, minus ' developers past pedigree '.. An from looking at this game, I suspect he was an amazing leader. Because he was able to coax all the TALENT out of everyone else. >.<
The devs are consistently adding features and constantly addressing quality of life issues for players What more do you want? The game is in development but already a lot of fun, especially when working with other players to build, craft, hunt and explore
If you enjoyed Star Wars Galaxies, you'll enjoy this game. It's not for people who just want a quick session. You get what you put into this game, and there isn't much hand-holding by design. There are a few tutorial missions, and after that it's up to you to figure out what you want to do. The in-game community is a tremendous resource when you need help. More than anything, the game is what you make it. If you don't work for things, you won't get much out of it. This game is going places I haven't seen since Star Wars Galaxies, and I'm excited to have the opportunity to play it. It has its flaws, but I've been impressed by how fast the fixes come, and I hope they keep heading in that direction. There's a lot left to be done and it's far from complete, but what's here already is awesome. I recommend this game if you enjoy working for what you want. Nothing here is handed to you, and you have the freedom to do anything you set your mind to. But you have to be willing to put in the effort.
first off, this is truly early access. this isnt some other game that is nearly complete just dumping into EA for some early marketing while they add content. im having fun with the game though. there are bones here of a brilliant mmo. just since EA it has had numerous patches to fix things, and the devs are listening to what the players want. they are in discord daily responding to players. if you want to be able to shape things, you actually have a chance to do that. this game is only going to get better.
This will be a rolling review i think. I guess first i will get out of the way my personal perception and overall reasonings. I have played SWG like many but also played Project Entropia/Entropia Universe, Earthrise and alot of others similar scifi sandbox games that were and still are rough around the edges. So my tolerance, patience and expectations with wants etc will be different among the regular folk. Second - do i recommend the game. To a certain degree i do, but i also will say no as i know many peoples patience and expectation are set too high. Price - honestly yes it is steep for a EA and surprised there was no discount, dont care about the reasonings about it. Was 40AUD. How i see it is that i gambled 40$. I do betting so EA games is a form of that so thats how i treat EA games in general - thats my perception and overall expectations. You win some, you lose some. To quote the gambling ads, you win some, you lose more. So if you are not happy to part with your money then dont. This is a high risk high gain game. I have played roughly 20 hours or so. If i did a night out i would have spent alot more than 40$ with less hours of enjoyment, and i have not cracked the surface. Optimisation - yeah its rough, playable, but rough. Not smooth when going around but fun doing the activities. I have played worse and i have played much better. Its on the worse side but playable. There are disconnects at times but even AAA games have them, been in games which connection issues have been worse. Graphics - personal thing. It reminds me of Champions Online cross with a few other titles. Its fun, colourful - maybe abit too colourful at times for my taste. Combat - probably the most basic at the moment. Combined with the optimisation, graphics and just the way it is (action based) it is something that i do if i have to do. Its jaggy, not fun, boring, and trying to dodge and move away from attacks is a pain at times. The mobs are strange too, not sure if they are placeholders - like a big car for exmple. Activities/skills - theres still alot to do apart from combat. Exploring, surveying, mining, crafting, building, just to name a few. The list of skills is huge, like Project Entropia, many diections to go - mind you many are pictured as a WIP and cannot be used but i have just gone down only a few nodes out of the big list available already. Mining - i will put mining in this section as it has a simulation built in the whole planet on you can mine anything. Pull your laser and it evaporates and those plants regrow over time, sand falls down if not covered properly to fill a hole and so forth. Ill add more later, will play more again. Look this is a niche type of EA at the moment and not great for everyone but it will be great for others. This one i have played more than other polished EA games. I think its due to the fact that it mimics all the games i used to play that are either gone or not (PE) friends to non money spenders. I suggest for "most" people wait for a discount as i know many dont want to spent 40 on a game like this as money nowadays is tight for many to gamble. Others, if you dall into a specific category that you may like the features then try it if you can part ways with 40. Features are there to have fun for a long time but optimisation may put many off if they are not use to it from other games they played.
Buy this game if you want to support the vision of Raph Koster and team. Yes, it is in a rough state this early on. However, we must continue to support sandbox MMOs or the genre will continue to die off. The concepts of this game are great and it has what many of us have been searching for. I believe in the project and that a polished game will present itself after some more development time. The alternative for this game being released in early access would have been stopping development. Ask yourself if you'd rather support the chance of having an excellent game or have no game at all.
I like the base of this game, i am having fun and i definitely would get it on release. There is some ticks typical of early access games but they don't affect general game mechanics. I like the astonishing variety of resources, objects, skills and crafting mechanics. I recently got used to them on Ultima Online, SWG, Mortal Online 2 and others. I can't help it, its what got me here :)
Do you love mining for copper, but the sand never stops flowing so you can't get there? Are you for wild planets where the sheep shear you? Come grab a cider on Kai and stop by! But no seriously the game is challenging. Obviously it's still beta and that's ok I am finding the game content variable and engaging. There are bugs but overall the game is quite playable and they are working on them fast. This game is great if you played UO, or other survival sandbox games where creativity and community craft the game play. The progression is meaningful already and there is much more coming!
