About

An entire universe awaits you in Stars Reach. In this science-fantasy MMORPG, you'll visit strange, new worlds, become an explorer, and build a life on planets that react to everything you do. Your choices will change your world. And, you'll do it with every other player on a single server. Leave your mark on the galaxy!
Each world responds to your actions. A deep, reactive simulation allows water to flow naturally, forests to burn, and lava to harden into new materials and land masses. From lush forests to winding rivers to perilous mountains, every planet has its own ecosystems, resources, and challenges. Your decisions determine what resources are available to you, how wildlife reacts, and ultimately which settlements prosper.
Planets are living systems. Your decisions determine what resources are available to you. Climate changes, creatures migrate, disasters strike, and the world reacts in ways you can’t fully control.
Travel through wormholes to discover new worlds, explore, build, survive, and thrive. Every planet begins untouched. What it becomes is up to you.
Master one of dozens of skill paths, and live the galactic life you’ve always dreamed. Whether you want to protect settlers as a ranger, build a trade empire, or offer your services as an architect, Stars Reach offers many skill paths that allow you to chart a course through space that fits your play style. There are different weapons to master. There’s a career path just for you in Stars Reach.
You’re not locked into any single playstyle. Experiment with different skill paths and find the combination that suits you best. Build your own class from different skill sets and define your role in the galaxy.
Your first steps onto a new world take you far beyond the familiar. You’ll need to adapt to your surroundings by learning to survive. Every skill path has accompanying equipment, which you’ll gain proficiency with by using those tools.
More importantly, your contributions to the community will increase your proficiency. A camp you build will earn you experience when others rest at it. Community means survival, and we’ve built Stars Reach to support pro-social behavior and limit the ability for other players to ruin your experience through griefing.
You can build a cozy cottage on a remote hill, and carve out a living by yourself. But if you crave community, team up to build settlements and cities, shape how they grow, and decide how they are governed.
Team up and claim a large plot of land that isn’t just a home base. You and your friends can cluster your homesteads, build a community, and govern together.
The resources you gather can be sold in a unified galactic economy driven by players. Or, you can use them to craft tools and technology to supply distant worlds with vital goods necessary for their survival.
Trade with players across the galaxy, specialize in what you make, and become a master of your craft and earn renown across the galaxy.
Your choices determine what comes next.
Cities grow or decline, ecosystems shift, wildlife becomes extinct, and resources are used up or recover based on what you do. Protect the environment and its inhabitants, or strip mine it for profit. Other players live with the results of what you leave behind.
This is Stars Reach! What will you become?

Highly recommended if you are a masochist into self flagellation. I wish I could give it two broken thumbs up! Seriously though, it's alpha state, but very promising and the dev team is passionate. There is some very cool terraforming tech. Now we just need to find out if it can scale properly for an MMO.
A living galaxy, not just a theme park. I've been waiting for an MMO that actually lets the world change, and Stars Reach delivers. I spent my playtime just digging, planting, and freezing a stream to make a bridge. Everything is modifiable down to the cubic meter and it all stays that way for everyone. It's Early Access, so it's a little rough, but it's the most hopeful, creative MMO I've played in years. If you loved SWG or just want to build and explore at your own pace, try it. Recommended.

There's so much to love about this game, the world sim (living, fully manipulatable maps), the community, turning hillsides into lava, flamethrowers & ice-beams, the lore is fantastic, the dev team. For me, the coolest part is how the world reacts to your choices. If you fight monsters who throw fire in the desert then the sand beneath your feet might turn to glass. You can drain a lake, and it goes away. I like to drain a lake into a homestead to make myself a personal pool. Hit the water with your flamethrower and it turns into vapor. It's just a fun and immersive world where there's so many things you can do that I'll never do it all. The entire process of watching Raph and his team bring this to life has been a blast, and I can't wait to see where this goes.
I can handle a loooot of jank, but the inventory management is unbelievably tedious. If there are any QOL improvements to sorting, merging, or storage, I'll probably come back and try again. I love the idea of what this game could become, and I hope it gets there.
Dont believe the hype. This is fun now and looks to only get better. Come one, the lead designer worked with SWG for sake. This has good legs. Support the project if you want to be able to play something fun and engaging.

I've been following Stars Reach since before the Kickstarter. Star Wars Galaxies (SWG) hooked me 20 years ago. Been waiting for Raph to poke Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) in the eye with a sharp stick for decades. This is not SWG. This is Raph Koster's vision without Big Media tugging the purse strings, constantly on his back. The ground moves. The water flows. The characters fly on zip lines. It's it polished? Nope. Is it glitchy? Yep. Is it fun? I think so. I can be an Explorer. Or a Hunter. Or a Barkeep. Or a Doctor. Or a Truck Driver. It's out there, in one form or another. More options coming with each passing day. There's no Big Media bankrolling SR, so its a small shop doing the work. That takes time. That takes commitment. Raph and the gang have that in spades. How do I know? The gang talks to us. Regularly. We might not like what they say. We might want to hear something different. *But we hear from them.* What's working, what's not, what they're pushing forward on. When's the last time a game developer studio did that? I see the vision. I like the progress I see now. I'm willing to risk a few $ to help move things along. And while I'm waiting, I think I'll go change a river's course so I have a creek wandering though my homestead, just for fun of it.
It's an early access game, so if less features and more bugs bother you then don't get it. But it's an ambitious game and the bones are there. If they can complete development and make the game they planned to then it's going to be super cool. It'll be F2P with a subscription to own land, so buying it now is to play it early and watch it develop, and support the devs. Once again, it's early access and missing a lot of features that are planned. I'm enjoying the EA myself, just exploring and gathering resources right now. The next step is my guild governing a planet and I can't wait to see what that opens up.
