Zero Company, or ZCOM as some call it, is a fantastic take on the XCOM formula dressed up in a Star Wars outfit. The presentation is great in a genre that usually focuses more on gameplay, and the character interactions remind me a lot of helping companions in Mass Effect. Gameplay-wise, I really enjoyed ZCOM. It has more of an emphasis on abilities and synergies with other character's than I felt XCOM did, which was more move > shoot > overwatch. The Advantage system is great too, essentially giving you extra actions within the same turn if you really focus on squeezing the most out of every ability you have on offer. It took me just under 30hrs to beat the game, and that was doing all of my teammate's side missions. I feel this was the perfect runtime, as the pace never felt like it dragged or was moving too fast. If you like XCOM, pick this game up. Star Wars fans too. If not, still give it a chance if you're able to and are interested in the genre - it's probably one of the better entry points to turn-based tactics games out there.
Good tactical game. Fantastic Star Wars game.
The first xcom game i've ever finished because there was a narrative thread that I could keep pulling at. I got so bored with xcom 40k or xcom 1 and 2 modern games, even midnight suns couldn't pull me through, and that had so much story it was obnoxious. This game had just enough, and the arcs didn't completely overstay their welcome. Moderately solid pacing. Wrapped in 35ish hours on story mode, will return to play again at some point for a harder and death of character potential run. Do not like unreal engine, do not like dlss, these are actual ass, and frankly the game performance was a bit spot and go, I value this game as still worth playing regardless, but if you HATE these specific issues, please set a timer if you buy, so you can make up your mind before the refund policy expires.
Zero Company is a good star wars game but a pretty average game beyond the star wars title. Its fun and I would recommend any fan of turn based tactical gameplay or star wars to play. I experienced a total of 4-5 crashes, 2 of which happened during combat and I had to redo missions which was annoying. There was pretty frequent stuttering and grahpic issues but overall I found myself wanting to play more and really enjoyed the characters. Things I like (pros): - Amazing Characters - Fun gameplay - Great customization - Star wars - Hawks male voice actor is 10/10 - Compelling character stories - Perma death of characters Things I didn't like (cons): - Flat story, I liked the characters more then the overall plot and I liked some of the side missions better than the main ones. - Decent amount of glitches stuttering and crashes. - Repetitive gameplay and mission types, especially early on - The den sometimes felt empty and bland, wish there was more to explore - Third person mission elements are very linear and don't reward exploration. The extra bonuses are right in front of you in each mission - Game is very easy (I played on normal)
not sure why this isn't more popular. really, really good game. bit buggy cus of unreal jank but still good.
Its not quite as good as Xcom, but its still Star Wars and Xcom together and its done damn well.
While I enjoyed the gameplay loop of games like XCOM 2 and other strategy games they are mostly from an era where the easiest setting is still too difficult for me to manage. No such frustration with Zero Company, as a true Easy mode exists. It also has the option to not use permadeath, which also helps. I'll probably let Permadeath be on in my next run of the game, though. Zero Company is set in the closing days of the Prequel Trilogy timeline, and does an amazing job of giving another view into what the conversion from Republic to Empire looks like to a mercenary company. With excellent writing, excellent voice acting, and a whole lot of "just for fun" personalization possible for characters, this game took me by surprise. While the game's narrative is great fun to play through I do hope the team can implement a never-ending "career mode" where I could be running Zero Company missions for as long as I wanted. Hopefully the success and word of mouth about this game will allow the team to return and add in such features. Definitely suffering from post-Endgame Depression right now...which, again, is just a testament to the writing and acting. I want more time with these characters.
affz queria mais, muito gostosinho
Massive fan of Xcom 1 and 2 and I find this more accessible and simplified version incredibly fun and absolutely welcome
