If i had 700 million years i probably wouldn't experience all 99 endings
SO2R is my second entry into the Star Ocean series, with my first being the First Departure R which mind you was a great game but felt quite dated. Now SO2R is beyond that, this is my favorite RPG of the decade and possibly all time. From Story to the most in depth crafting that i cant find any flaws with and the combat. everything screams perfection for me, to even the tiny details like the UI being magnificent. Ive only done one play through and beaten everything and im going to do my second route more than happy to do NG+ because NG+ lets me keep everything and experience the game through new characters i didnt get in my first route. This game i cant describe in words how much of a magnum opus it is, this is the best RPG to get right here and man i cannot wait for the SO3 to someday get a remake, as i hear it has the potential to be even better. Do yourselves a favor and BUY THIS GAME. if you like RPG's that is.

I open this Review for comments if you have any question regarding this game. For real worth it. (Also I'm evaluating this game as a remake, if you have question regarding the game as itself let me know too) This game is a masterclass about how a company SHOULD make a Remake. They added new things, added a lot of QoL(Quality of Life), Added small references to the company and previous games. Everything that they added is just perfect. I'm seriously in love with this, Worth every single penny.

STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R is an incredible remake that balances nostalgia with modern improvements. It keeps what made the original special while upgrading visuals, combat, and overall feel. The HD-2D style looks fantastic, and combat is fast, smooth, and much more refined. The quality-of-life updates make it easy to jump in and enjoy. What really stands out is the depth—multiple characters, branching paths, and plenty of side content add strong replay value. If you enjoy classic RPGs or great remakes, this is a must-play.
Great remaster, it you like the original, you will like this.
hidden gem really good game
I'd give this a "Meh" If i could. I don't even have the proper motivation to really review this game because I'm that disinterested in it as a whole after finishing it. Probably one of the most generic, cliche filled JRPG stories I've ever played, complete with cartoonish villains with no ambitions other than "wanting to rule the galaxy". Characters have little to no depth outside the main two, and the voice acting as a whole was absolutely terrible across the board (at leas the English VA) I kept playing because the combat was kinda fun. It then turned super tedious and even borderline ridiculously easy to the point of boredom for me. I ended up just wanting to finish it to say I finished it. Never planning on going back. I guess for $24.99 I got enough entertainment out of it but I wouldn't pay more than that for this game.

This is an outstanding game! It’s quite literally what I have been looking for for years. I was so tired of these lame turn based games that could’ve gone ahead and animated the action. Well, Star Ocean now got a fan out of me when I go to describe game style I’m immediately describing this one that has this multifaceted art style as well as forward thinking gameplay mechanic. Well done and I look forward to the next iteration. Please add multiplayer and also sale the soundtrack I love it! :DukeCash:
