Spring Tales

The game took me under two hours to complete. I was after a small game, but for the price it retails at I would have expected more. The narrative was kind of ham fisted, the scene transitions going from out to inside buildings was clunky. The puzzles were not particularly challenging, and some I don't think could actually even be classified as puzzles (what is puzzling about washing a plate?). If this was a game jam game made in a restricted amount of time I think it's well done (depending on the amount of time). Otherwise it feels lacking. The game kind of builds up expectations of things that could be puzzles and then does them offscreen (looking at you flower arch), has a weird supernatural twist for one and only one section which is then completely glossed over, and a surprising lack of ACTUALLY REBUILDING THE TOWN. It bills itself as a game about the town picking themselves up after the storm and planning a festival to lift spirits: but the town remains as damaged. The storm may as well have not happened. Which makes the end which is a speech all about doing your best and starting over fully unrelated to the actual gameplay you did!

Not for adults. I refunded. I could imagine a young child playing this game and enjoying it. As an adult, it is literally handholding. There is no alternative or thought, it is literally just click the screen. Also the ding noise is not a very nice noise, a bit harsh, which makes it not as satisfying to complete.
