In Spirit of Midnight, play as a house cat adventuring outside for the first time. While exploring, you'll uncover a whole society of animals living in secret, deep within the woods and beyond the sight of humans... all seemingly affected by the same spirit monster you encountered in your home that night. Befriend a badger and try to uncover the mystery behind the sudden imbalance of the supernatural powers that hold the town together.
Meet Felix!
He's your new badger friend and adventuring pal! - Felix excitedly joins in on your adventure and is ready to (attempt) to help along the way.

Solve Puzzles and Help Others
While enjoying a beautiful night and newfound freedom to explore… (you're a cat, you LOVE exploring and doing cat things...) you'll collect all sorts of items. Use and combine them to solve puzzles to help others and unblock your way in humorous ways!

Uncover the Mystery
But who or what is this spirit monster?... and how did he change you from a typical house cat into a walking, talking, cat-of-the-forest? Something is amiss and the balance of powers that hold this community together is all wrong. Talk to the animals you meet and put your heads together to find a way to restore the forest before morning!

Professionally scored with original music and nighttime vibes. Controller play recommended. Great on Steam Deck. Play an introduction to the game before release in *** Spirit of Midnight: Prologue *** today!

"Spirit of Midnight: Prologue" is not a game. It's an advertisement for a product called "Spirit of Midnight". Spirit of Midnight is an as-yet unreleased furry friendly adventure game about a furry/cat that goes on an adventure, with some cartoony graphics and a barely lukewarm level of public interest. That, despite this advertisement being dumped unceremoniously on Steam as if it was a full game TWO years ago, hasn't actually arrived in any way, shape or form on Steam. We already know there's no value for gamers in these advertisements, but advertisements for products that don't even exist is even less useful. Regardless, the purpose of this advert is most certainly to attempt to draw attention to the full product should it ever be made (seems unlikely given how few people even bothered to look at this advertisement). But this isn't completely relevant because this is not Spirit of Midnight, it's just an advertisment for it, so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product. We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. If you enjoy advertisements, you can consume them for free on the web or on Youtube without needing to add them to your game library, download them, and then launch the advertising. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "Spirit of Midnight: Prologue" too. This is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in your browser are. This is a game demo that's been dumped on Steam to advertise another Steam store page in the hopes of raking in some cash. Just because advertisements are free, doesn't mean they're worth your time. It's important to understand there's a formal process to create a demo/page for a game which hasn't been followed here: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/application/demos While it might seem like an inocuous mistake, publishing demos and advertisements as if they are full games is misleading and in some ways harmful. This advertisement is taking up marketing space and visibility that would be better made available to a developer that's done the right thing and created a full game. Instead, that visibility is given over to a demo/advert that's been published incorrectly and is polluting the marketplace. It's unclear if this mistake was made through incompetence or a deliberate intent to mislead gamers. Often developers may choose to incorrectly publish demo/advertisements as separate games as a cheap way to bypass paying Valve for marketing presence on the Steam front page, which may seem clever to them, but it's harmful behaviour and it's not good for gamers. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Advertisements and incorrectly published demos don't add +1 to your game collector count, they aren't full games. It's impossible for me to recommend this incorrectly published advertising spam to gamers, you deserve better than adverts.

A very cute and fun little intro-game, definitely recommend checking it out...
love badger's face when you snag the toy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20nBEkF1DtI
this is a very cute prologue! im looking forward to seeing the full game :) the art style is adorable, the concept is amazing (very excited to see more of the ghost from the cutscene at the start), the controls are a little difficult at first but I got the hang of it. For everyone with a steam controller: it works perfectly well, the buttons are labelled at the bottom of the screen for inventory/objectives, only one i had to hunt for was right bumper for sprint. I found the badger kept getting in my way, until i realised he tries to walk out of the way when you bump him and then i stopped getting stuck haha I ADORE the crafting system, its well implemented, very monkey island with the vibes. Only critiques I can think of is making sure theres accessability settings, for example the ability to tone down the background noises, as they are a little sharp and irritating (especially with headphones) for anyone with noise sensitivity, and also the screen that shows when badger is collected is a bit bright and flashy which may be an issue for some, so a toggle to make any screens like that less bright or just static would go a long way. Also I hope the full game has a map (eg if it just showed the path, like the image pinned on badgers wall that appears to be a map, showing every detail in a map wouldnt be necessary, just a vauge sense of the rooms/zones/paths) as I can see it getting confusing quickly as more areas open up. Overall, Id give this a 8/10 as a prologue, its made me so ready to play the full game. Im itching to see how the story plays out. Well done to the devs, I can tell its a passion project. I wish yall all the luck in the world with this game xx
