SPGP Super Polygon Grand Prix

I was pleasently surprised how much fun I was having. Not only does the game look really good but it also played a lot better than I thought. Racing felt very smooth and easy to handle but also had a lot of depth when it came scoring a better time. Sense of speed felt great and the music just compimented the whole experience. Usually with Arcade style racing games I'd put the controller down after racing a few laps but with SP Grand Prix I kept coming back for more. Truely an experience for those who are into this style of racing game

Man. This is friggin awesome. There has been some arcade racing games trying to capture the feel of arcade racing games from the 90s, but I'm yet to find one that gets it better than SPGP, but adding the modern touches a game like this needs. The handling is amazing fun, the cars are twitch enough that you fell like you are battling them but never like it's unfar or an impossible battle. You don't need to use a brake a lot on circuits (in some you can easily flat-out the whole lap), so the focus is always on speed and doing the best racing lines. I've played a lot of the original Virtua Racing (and Daytona USA? ♥♥♥♥, probably the game that ate most of my quarters after Street Fighter 2), and I can honestly say the cars here handle better, they don't skid easily (unless you crash), but you need precision to control them. And an analog controller gives you enough precision for that. The game really shows a lot of love towards it, with lots of nice details on the tracks, which change every lap and small things like that. And damn, this is still EARLY ACCESS. I wonder wha'ts coming up, but I am already having tons of fun with it. The game does have some small flaws, like it's sometimes hard to know where you going to (mostly on cockpit camera - which is the most fun to play), the UI is kinda wonky, I wish some races were a littler shorter (5 minutes long races on arcades were common... but I can live with that), all to be expected on an Early Access game. I hope the dev adds split screen suppport but, overall, if you want a good arcade racer, you really can't go wrong with SPGP . One of the best racing games I've played recently, and I do play a lot of them. Amazing how Rozz can pull it off and by himself make a game that's better than experienced gamedevs are doing.

Difficile de se faire une idée précise étant donné que les mecs modifient le gameplay et la difficulté a chaque mises a jour. Je trouve la MaJ du 26/4 très bien, alors que celle du 19/4 n’était pas terrible... La direction artistique est aussi assez particulière, le genre de truc que soit t'aime soit tu déteste, pas de juste milieu...

From my dad: Great game! Fun to play and reminiscent of the old arcade games. Suggestion: make an extra OAP or Golden Slowies for people who find Rookie too fast/difficult!

Very nice retro racer feeling, very responsive controls and fluid motion, the developer is really engaging and listening and sorting everything out. highly recommended to racing game fans (and overall arcade game fans)

this game is unplayable. even in EA this a shame

Am I supposed to not be able to make it past 2nd place even on the easiest difficulty on the easiest tracks, or do I just suck? The game is fun, the aesthetic perfectly captures the feel of Virtua Racer on Sega Saturn, and the music isn't bad either. I've run into a few bugs (I fell through the ground once), but the game is still in early access, so it's forgiveable, and it works great most of the time. Performance on Steam Deck isn't the best for some reason, and there aren't any advanced graphical options I can find to turn off (the best I could do was disable vsync and switch from "modern" graphics to "retro" graphics mode, but maybe I'll try a different version of Proton), so that might be something to think about in the future. All in all, it's a pretty solid game, even if I cannot for the life of me figure out how to play well; the car in 1st place is always so far ahead of me when I get to 2nd, it's already hopeless... But I'm sure people who are more experienced with racing games won't have that problem.

Been missing oldschool arcade racers, such as VR, Daytona, and especially Ridge Racer. Saw this, got nostalgic and bought it immediately. Glad I did, because I love it, so far. A nice trip down memory lane, and better than other recent games that tried. I wonder if NASCARs will be added... :) *Edit: Can't lie, it's not the most difficult game right now.. But I'm fine with that here.
