Reviews
Things can get blurry and it feels empty compared to the first game. The single player campaign isn't interesting and even shorter than the one in the original. There's some new maps, and two whole new items, but other than that, it feels like there could have been so much more. At this point, just get the first game.

In no particular order: - Terrible input/network latency when playing multiplayer. The game runs fine in singleplayer mode, but this is not a singleplayer game. Even when hosting the lobby, there is serious latency. This is an issue that is not present in Speedrunners 1, and I'm playing on the same network, with the same hardware, and with the same group of friends. - FPS locked at 60 when hosting a lobby. VSync is off, and my settings are all the same when hosting and when joining a lobby, and this issue is only present when hosting. Just, why? Is this some sort of frame rate dependent process tick thing? Questionable software architecture choices when they already had a system that worked perfectly in the first game. - Awful UI/UX. Just horrible. It's not as bad now as it was in the demo (the demo was BAAAD), but it's still jank. Pressing Enter/ESC hardly ever does what you expect it to. Some UI actions execute with a single key press, and some are press and hold, and there's no logical consistency for which is which, so sometimes you might tap ESC to back out of a menu and *whoops* you're out of the lobby. Sometimes you'll press enter to select something, but the game decided to focus on some random button, and *whoops* you're out of the lobby again. If you want to adjust the volume, you can do so by clicking on the volume bars, but only if you're NOT in a game. If you ARE in a game, you have to clickclickclickclick the arrows next to the volume bars for 1% change increments. I could go on and on about all the little nitpicky annoyances with the interface, but hopefully you get the idea. - Speaking of volume, if you want to mute the annoying ass announcer, that also mutes all the voices of all the characters. The voice acting isn't bad, but the announcer is really repetitive. But the real problem is that in a fast paced game like this, the game state can change in an instant, way faster than the time it takes for the announcer to even say his voice line. By the time he finishes saying what he's saying, the entire situation on screen has changed. And Speedrunners 1 was popular among streamers and youtubers, who are just going to commentate anyways. Nobody watching videos of this game is going to appreciate the announcer talking over the person they actually sat down to see. And the only way to turn him off is to turn everyone off. - Visual barf. It is so hard to visually keep track of your character amongst the visual noise. Some maps are better than others, but overall this looks like one of those "graphic design is my passion" kind of games. It looks like when an amateur photographer "touches up" a picture by cranking up the saturation all the way. Once again, a major step backwards from Speedrunners 1, which had a sensible visual hierarchy. - Miscellaneous gameplay changes that just make the game worse. Other gamers have already written really good reviews about this, so I'm just going to say "yeah, that." Go read the other reviews. Overall, it's as if the developers didn't play the first game, didn't understand what made it good, didn't playtest what they themselves made, and never played a good game before. If you want to play Speedrunners, just play Speedrunners, don't even bother with this.
it's just like the first game but if it was bad, how did they do this
It could use more content but for $9.99 it's decent. The negative reviews are acting like they paid an arm and a leg or something. For reference the first game is like $15. Don't let the negative reviews scare you. I highly suggest you try the game out yourself and come to your own conclusions. But yeah the original is worth the higher price.
The first game was much better. The hand drawn animations and maps were easier to follow, and the original game is frankly just more fun. The first game also runs better for most players, myself included. Bought this game and played a few rounds with my friends, then we all uninstalled, refunded and went back to playing the original.
