About
Species: Unknown is a first-person survival horror game, playable in co-op with up to 4 players (private or public servers) or solo. You play as a mercenary sent aboard an abandoned spaceship. Your job? Execute high-risk contracts, make it out alive, and claim your reward. But keep in mind that you’re not alone. Something is hunting you…
Form a squad of up to 4 players to take on different contracts with escalating difficulty. Each mission plays differently depending on your objective, your teammates, the map and which of the 5 intelligent threats is stalking you. No one survives alone, but you can try.

Proximity Chat & Radio are available: distance matters, walls matter. Proximity Chat is bringing more tension, sometimes chaos, and unforgettable moments to your co-op sessions.

Every contract drops you into a different nightmare. Whether you're tasked with extracting a black box, capturing or eliminating an unknown threat, or even destroying the ship to prevent the creature from escaping… Each mission demands a specific strategy and none of them are easy.
The specimen is chosen procedurally from a growing roster of terrifying monsters. Each one comes with distinct behaviors, hunting patterns, strengths, and weaknesses. You’ll need to investigate your surroundings to gather vital clues and identify the threat in order to proceed smoothly (or not). Do your job and get rewarded, or die without anyone knowing.

Strategize as a group, make smart use of your tools that can turn the tide, if only for a moment:
Motion Tracker : Detect nearby movement and prepare for what's coming
Shield : Block deadly attacks and buy time for your team
Health Syringe : Heal yourself or allies in the heat of battle
Mini-Map : Navigate pitch-black corridors with real-time positional data
Guns won’t always save you. Some threats are too resistant or simply untouchable. But the right weapon, found at the right time, can help you push through or even take the creature down.

The higher the risk, the higher the reward. Completing contracts earns you credits you can use to:
Upgrade your gear
Buy new tools
Customize your appearance
Gather lore and build your own creature museum

Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Uno de los mejores juegos cooperativos que esta a un muy buen precio.
A great game, especially with friends. Has my full recommendation.
Species Unknown is a fun game with a really solid idea behind it. The atmosphere, the mystery, and the feeling of not knowing what you are dealing with make it interesting, especially when you first start playing. It has that tense co-op feeling where you and your friends are trying to figure things out while everything slowly goes wrong around you. The game does a good job at creating creepy moments. When you are first learning how everything works, it can be stressful in a good way. Not knowing what the creature is going to do, trying to survive, and figuring out the mechanics gives the game a lot of potential. It is definitely the kind of game that is better with friends, especially if you enjoy horror, survival, and chaotic guessing games. That being said, the game does start to feel repetitive after a while. Once you have played enough rounds, a lot of the content starts to feel like the same loop over and over again. The mystery wears off a bit, and there does not always feel like there is enough new stuff to keep things fresh long-term. Another issue is that updates feel slow. I understand development takes time, especially for smaller games, but when a game relies on fear, surprise, and replayability, it really needs steady new content to keep people coming back. More creatures, more maps, more objectives, more events, and more variety would help a lot. I still recommend Species Unknown because the base game is fun and the idea has a lot of potential. It is best played with friends, and it can create some really funny and tense moments. But I do think it needs more content and faster updates to avoid feeling stale. Overall, it is a good game with a strong concept, but it needs more variety to reach its full potential.
Of all friendslop games I've played, this is the most qualitative one imo. The music and sound design stand out the most for me. The visuals are impressive for the indie standard, and the gameplay loop is really fun. I've also never encountered any game breaking bug, despite it being in an "early access" state. The amount of content is a bit low right now. But, looking at the roadmap, it seems the devs intend to add considerably more. Hope they keep this up, because this game has mad potential. It already delivers much more than its current price tag imo.
For an early-access game, this is a hidden gem, especially for the price. However, what it needs: - More maps. There is currently one playable map, which kinda sucks - Loads more species; there are simply too few - More upgrades/customizations - More guns - A narrative/story
