About
Space Food Truck is a cooperative, culinary scifi adventure. 1-4 players take on unique roles aboard the Galaxy Gourmet. Their mission: explore a vast, procedurally-generated galaxy in search of exotic ingredients, craft delicious recipes, and build a powerful collection of items and abilities to withstand the untold dangers of deep space.
Your team's goal is to complete all of your recipe objectives, which means collecting ingredients, crafting each dish, and taking it to the planet that's craving it. Each of the four unique roles aboard your ship contribute in their own way, and they'll all need to work in concert to succeed! Just like on a real space food truck.

The Captain plots your ship's course, scouring the galaxy for stronger items and tastier ingredients.
The Chef collects ingredients that other players discover and crafts them into delicious dishes. He occasionally eats his own cards.
The Scientist researches each of the roles on your ship, choosing which crew members to empower with new abilities. He'll sometimes stumble upon artificial ingredients.
The Engineer repairs and upgrades the ship, which is constantly pummeled by misfortune.
Each character begins the game with a small deck of 10 cards, which you'll play to move around the ship and do your job. You must add a card to your personal deck each turn, and you'll be reshuffling and drawing items and abilities from it all game long. Your goal is to assemble the strongest, most versatile collection possible to do your job, and ultimately bring honor and glory to your food truck.

This is an AWESOME card game. It took me a few tries to understand what was happening, and then about 10 hours to optimize my moves. After that, it was a 4 hour journey to beat the actual game (multiple re runs needed) Its well designed and everything has a synchronistic justification, even the "bad events" have their on cannabilistic synergy that will END YOU if you don't address shortfalls in your card pulls. I know this is marketed multiplayer, but SINGLEPLAYER is viable, and to me , preffered. Once you understand the role and optimized paths of each character, it becomes an over arching strategy-puzzle-card game that is very satisfying. I can't imagine trying to translate the nessecary cross strategy needed to win with 4 different people. As 1 person, you can predict and formulate long term goals, but as 1/4th of a team, good luck lol. amazing, loved this game
Almost 10 years later and this game still hold up. The difficulty scaling is great too as I've never been able to beat the game on the hardest difficulty, but can always win on the easiest of four difficulty levels. You play as four crewmen on a ship each with they own deck to maintain and each crew uniquely contributes to the overall goal of cooking and delivering three separate dishes with rare ingredients. I just wish it had more multiplayer support/activity and more content beyond the original gameplay. For the amount of content in this game, I'd say $5.99 is a good price for it, but I did get a lot of replayability out of it. The average game takes about an hour to 1.5 hours to complete. I am able to play the game with the steam deck, but only by utilizing the track pads only. There is NO controller functionality with this game.

This game is very quirky and memorable. The roles and co-op nature of the game are very dynamic. As rogue-like co-op card games go, this one is decent enough on it's own. However, this game suffers greatly from both the RNG elements of a deck builder, and the events system. There's a solved amount of strategy, especially with the forced purchase mechanic. The forced purchase mechanic is the worst thing I've ever had to deal with. You're being taxed for not staying on top of the cruelties of the universe. There's a bit of bias here, I'm mainly just frustrated on how much this game attacked me with little agency to stop it. Lastly, unless you're playing solo, the multiplayer is extremely buggy with the UI and connection. You'll find yourself full restarting with your whole co-op crew quite often. It's a seven year old game with major issues like this.
A cautious thumbs-down for now. Despite being a decent-looking deck-builder with graphics and mechanics more similar to Monster Train than Slay the Spire, the obscure UI makes it quite difficult. There are tons of elements that are not explained and a tutorial gameplay scenario is lacking. I haven't been able to get far on the easiest of difficulties. The sole developer has not been seen or heard of for years, so the remaining bugs are almost certainly not going to be fixed. But if you can fiddle through the obscurities and suboptimalities and are willing to give it a try, it does look promising.
Gonna be honest, compared to other deckbuilders, I dont really recommend this one since you cant check the draw piles of your characters unless you use 'X-ray burnerizer'. plus the fact that you have to force flood by adding cards every turn they pile up if you dont get enough card removals. It becomes frustrating when you have to waste turns to get the draw needed to complete tasks and if unable to, cycle through another set of events (mostly negative i might add). It better with friends if you dont take it seriously.
What a fun (but hard) game! I love it. I hope I will be able to reach the second planet at some point. Note: runs just fine on my 10 year old gaming laptop with Arch Linux.
An innovative deckbuilder, with an innovation that has put a number of people off: you're forced to buy a card every turn. (Also, the four decks in parallel thing is potentially a bit rough, although it was manageable for me.) This means that managing bloat is very important But with that in mind, I was able to win my second game (the first was spent learning things I might have learned from watching the video tutorial), and it was a perfectly enjoyable 3 hours. I'm not sure that I want to go back to it (but I'm not sure I won't), but it's genuinely innovative and was worth the low price.
Good game, very fun, but the reason the game was made (multiplayer) is BACK UP we ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ did it!!!!!!!!
If you like deck building games, this is well thought through, the design, graphics and music are very nice! Considering this was made by 2 people (is that correct?), this is a pretty polished result. I just wish there were stuffs to unlock when beating the game. That would make the replayability rely on more than choosing a harder difficulty tier.
charming and addicting. I wish I could beat the highest difficulty but it has broken my soul.
