We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.71/day in the week to Aug 14 → 2.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Sonic Superstars is almost there; it's so close to being a good 2D Sonic game but has some bad design choices that stopped me from wanting to finish it fully. It plays well, to be fair. It feels like the Mega Drive games and the more recent Sonic Mania. If you've spent any significant amount of time playing those games and enjoyed them, then Sonic Superstars shouldn't disappoint in that regard. Superstars has the drop dash that Mania introduced, as well as powers that are obtained when collecting Chaos Emeralds. Each emerald bestows you with a new power, and you'll be able to - among other things - slow down time, climb up waterfalls and send an army of clones flying across the screen. These powers are cool but ultimately mostly used for exploration, allowing you to take alternate routes through levels or find hidden items and collectables. In terms of looks, Superstars is inoffensive but uninspired. Technically it's good - sometimes even impressive, even on Steam Deck - but there's no real flair or character to most of the stages, with one exception which I won't spoil. The music is... fine; worse than that of the Mega Drive games and Mania but leagues above Sonic the Hedgehog 4. So why don't I recommend the game? The bosses. There's nothing inherently wrong with how the boss encounters are designed. On the contrary, a lot of them are actually quite cool. The problem is that they go on for far too long. You'll stand around or dodge the enemy's attacks while waiting for that one opening then be able to attack the boss once, at which point the boss becomes invincible for a short while and flies out of your reach so you can repeat the process again. I honestly don't know why the encounters are paced this way. Boss fights are also completely devoid of checkpoints, so if you spend 10 minutes on a boss and die before you can defeat it, tough luck idiot. Back to the beginning to sit though the boss' protracted flight patterns, animations and attack wind-ups. Finish the game with Sonic (or any combination of the four main characters; you're free to switch around as you choose) and you unlock a new character. She has her own track through the story, which must be completed in order to unlock the true ending of the game. Great in theory, but her levels and boss encounters are remixed and made harder, so all the problems with the bosses are exacerbated. I got three quarters of the way through her story, got stuck on the boss and decided that the juice wasn't worth the squeeze. We all know how it'll end anyway: Sonic will turn into Super Sonic and face either Dr. Robotnik in a big flying contraption or some hitherto unknown big bad. Probably in space. Oh, and the Special Stages in which you collect the Chaos Emeralds are hot garbage. I wanted to like Sonic Superstars. In fact, I did like it for a lot of the 10 hours I spent with it. But there are just too many bad design choices around the boss encounters and in terms of its presentation it just doesn't hold a candle to Mania or the Mega Drive games. You might get some fun out if it if you're a Sonic fan, but there are better Sonic games out there.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 31: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

"my favorite youtuber said to hate this game because they didnt like it waaaahhh!" I dont think the game is perfect, but I genuinely dont understand why its hated as much as it is. It looks good, plays good, sounds good (yes, the soundtrack is good, even the songs made by jun, cry about it), it checks all the boxes for a good 2D Sonic game, and yet people treat it like its on par with Sonic 4. It seems like the biggest complaint is the bosses, but the only ones I really didn't like was the last Fang fight and the last story's boss. I didnt really mind the final Eggman fight because my struggles with it were just because of a skill issue and I managed to overcome it. I think the only times I wasn't really enjoying the game was those 2 bosses and grinding for medals and the character-specific enemy kills for the achievements, otherwise I was having fun. maybe sonic fans just dont know what a good game is anymore lol
Overly hated. Fun game with beautiful visuals. Fun for a bit
This is probably the first and only time I'm making a review for a game. This game is so fundamentally flawed that it simply isn't enjoyable in either Singleplayer or Multiplayer. This game just feels like its having an identity crisis, and it isn't sure whether it wants to lean into a sequel like Sonic Mania and the classics, or a fun multiplayer game like Super Mario 3D World. The game's core issues is that this game has way too much trial and error especially in the later half of the game. This game doesn't use a lives system like previous Sonic games, and I feel like they balanced the difficulty around that by having as much nonsense as possible. In Singleplayer, the camera is so zoomed in that it's impossible to react to offscreen hazards or projectiles, especially in the secret character's story mode that it just sullies the overall experience. There's no panning screen like in CD to help see incoming obstacles at a decent speed so you'll constantly run into stuff that you couldn't react to. With these problems it's almost as bad as playing Sonic 1 Genesis. Yeah, the GBA port of Sonic 1. There are character specific acts in this game, where you play as certain character. This isn't a problem for Singleplayer, but it's a stupid problem for multiplayer, as Player 1 has to play a near 3-5 minute level (not counting deaths) while the other players have to just... sit there. In multiplayer one of these character acts is MANDATORY so if you're playing with friends they just awkwardly sit there and not assist player 1 in anyway. If every player played like a recolor of the specific character for the act it would have been much better for a game focusing on it's multiplayer. In Multiplayer the camera is a little bit better as there's more characters on screen but this leads into it's own problems, the camera constantly doesn't know who to focus on, leading to constant frustration that can be fun for a bit, but then quickly devolves into a battle of "who does the game consider to be the main character". The problem is that it isn't consistent at all, having no regards for things like height, distance, safety, or anything. Sonic has the drop dash in this game, so he'll most likely take the camera from everyone in horizontal sections, while characters like Knuckles and Tails will constantly take vertical sections. Anyone who isn't on the screen gets respawned, causing a constant tug of war with the camera. There's no splitscreen based on distance or any online multiplayer to speak of also, which really hurts this game in the long run. No matter how you decide to play this game however, the biggest elephant in the room is the boss fights. They take an ungodly amount of time to defeat, often more time the stage itself, ESPECIALLY in the later half. They are coated with tons of invincibility frames, which turns every boss encounter into a constant game of getting a hit, waiting almost 30 seconds to a minute for another chance to hit, repeat. if you miss your chance then you need to wait some more, and it's draining. I can see the idea behind this as with 4 players with different abilities it'd be so easy to crush everything and not leave a challenge to them, but there had to be a more graceful way of doing this, and it feels like there was not a lot of thought put into it. The best boss in this game is the Incredibles reference, where the boss is just straight up invincible and everyone needs to dodge it's attacks to make it damage itself, as it creates a scenario where the player being targeted must consider the positions of their friends. The secret character's final boss has all of these problems at once, and it's SINGLE PLAYER ONLY. I didn't really bother with the battle mode, as to customize the robot that you get you need medals and a lot of them for things like body parts, colors and the like, and the only real way to get more of them is to either play Special stages, checkpoint minigames or the Fruit acts. I don't mind the idea of more cosmetics but you get parts as you play the game and if I want to customize it so that all my friends can play then I'm going to have to grind a lot which isn't appealing when I'm doing it for 4 people. The Special Stages are fine to me personally, I didn't really hate them or anything and actually liked the idea of switching people after a set number of swings. Could leave to some funny moments depending on who you play with. It certainly had more teamwork than what the main game provides. The most enjoyable part of this entire game for me was the random as hell Fantasy Zone reference. Because that makes a whole lot of sense. When I wasn't playing the Sonic game, it was enjoyable. I would absolutely not recommend this game at all, as it's just confused on what it wants to be, by attempting to be two games at once. Like the old saying goes, if you chase two rabbits, they both will escape, and I hope that SEGA learns from this to make a better experience. If you're a diehard Sonic fan that hasn't played it yet somehow, wait for a HEAVY price drop. Everyone else, you can find better multiplayer and singleplayer games elsewhere.
Look, this game had potential. But they really ruined the entire experience of playing this game with the bosses. There are WAY too many bosses, many times each level has a boss. But then even worse many of the bosses are invincible for WAY too long. You’ll have bosses that it can take over a minute for it to cycle through its attacks and provide any opening. There are bosses here that can take longer to fight than the actual level takes to finish and that is just WRONG in every way of designing a Sonic game.
el juego es cooperativo para jugarlo con amigos, pero como buen fan de sonic que soy, amigos no tengo 😎
Bought this game on sale and played it in one sitting, left feeling disappointed. Play Sonic Mania instead, it's cheaper and has way more to offer.
A classic 2D Sonic game that has promising parts to it brought down by a handful of issues that take away what should’ve been a great game. Pros: - Good visuals - Technically stable - Emeralds powers - Some interesting level gimmicks that make a few areas fairly fun to replay Mixed: - Special stages - Replayability - Music Cons: - Poor background art (looks too low-res for a 3d game) - Bosses (incredibly tedious if you die during most boss fights) - Overly gimmick-y levels (Many slow you down far too much) - Co-op (Not implemented well) - Floaty movement - Final bosses - Trip Story (even more tedious than base game and bosses are worse) - Not worth the full price tag due to length, replayability, and general quality This game is not ‘bad’ but very middling. I’d say I like it more than Sonic 1 due to all the quality of life improvements and some neat ideas. However, it has new frustrations that rival Sonic 1 and truly, for a game made over 3 decades later, Superstars is arguably worse. There are some good levels to experience, some nice visuals, and playing as the different characters add a little to playing the game. The no-life system is helpful to reduce frustration (as you will die, especially on the 2nd playthrough) and the emerald powers are nice way to add to skills when traversing or fighting a boss. I enjoyed the side characters & the cinematics. However, the floaty character movement when combined with a fast 2d platformer like this, average soundtrack (which is incredibly rare for any sort of Sonic game), dull and frankly annoying bosses in general, and overly gimmicky levels that feel like they’re designed to slow you down really bring this game down for me. Not to mention, the entire premise of the game, the co op feature, doesn’t work that well due to how the camera works. If you really want Sonic Superstars, buy when on sale for $20 or less and only if you’re a big Sonic fan as there are many other 2D Sonic games, both official and fan-made, that are much more worth the time. 6.0/10.
I got this game for $15 and I was still let down. Sega blamed Super Mario Wonder for it's mixed reception and lack of sales, but that's pure cope. This is just a really underwhelming Sonic game that's a significant step back from Sonic Mania and nowhere close to the thrill of Frontiers. It sucks to say this because there are cool moments and as someone who grew up with the Sega Genesis games, I still had some fun, but overall the mostly worthless powers, questionable level design and arguably some of the worst bosses in the entire franchise(the last two are especially awful, with multi-phase, long and drawn out sequences with timely immunity phases) just make this game a really hard recommend. Even played a few stages with my 7 year old and he wasn't particularly impressed. Quick PC note: no widescreen support, barely any options to change in the visual settings and clearly an upscaled port from the Switch. It doesn't look bad or anything and it performs fine, but keep that in mind, this game would be best played on a Steamdeck or regular 1080p non-UW screen. If you're a diehard Sonic fan, or really itching for a 2D platformer that focuses on speed(some of the time anyway), maybe give it a try at $20 or less IF you've played literally every other Sonic game and most of the much better Sonic-style Indie games. Otherwise, this game is a sad reminder that Team Sonic still gets it wrong sometimes, and the Sonic curse isn't completely gone yet. Just give us Mania 2 and Frontiers 2, yeah?
Feels halfway between Sonic 4 and Sonic Mania. Worth 10€ at most.
