You know I saw this game lying around and realized I have never written a review on it. So here it is. Honestly this is probably one of the best ARG's that exists, and not for the reasons you may think. I think that it is one of the best because of how accessible it is. Most ARG's are designed to be solves by whole communities of people. Thousands of minds clawing away at it, trying to figure out the mystery. These can be interesting and even at times tell extremely beautiful stories. However the main problem with these is the experience the average person has. Most people only find out about these ARG's after they have been solved. However even if you stumbled across one before it is solved its usually way too hard for you to dig into alone because these are designed for hundreds of people to solve not one person. For these reasons, most people end up only experiencing ARG's through hour long video essays. This is not what Shipwrecked 64 does or what it tries to do. This is the only ARG I would recommend people to go into by themselves, instead of watching game theory or whoever else. Shipwrecked 64 does not attempt to be the hardest to decode, or to be the most complex arg ever. It chooses to still provide challenge in decoding it, but making it easy enough that the average person can dive in. (Besides Meow Wolf santa fe) This is the first ARG that I actually went into a tried to solve by myself. Solving all the puzzles, and doing things differently, tinkering around seeing what happens was really fun. It throughout the experience kept a creepy atmosphere, and has so much under its surface. I did so much in this game but it still feels like I only scratched the surface. Please go into this game blind! (btw a note to someone who may try to correct me, I'm aware that this game might not meet the full definition of "ARG" I don't care)
cool game and scary
A highly recommended gamepacked with secrets and featuring immersive gameplay; it’s simply a work of art. It takes quite a while to complete 100%, but it’s worth every minute.
Honestly, the best and most unique horror game I've ever played. The jump scares are actually scary and get you at the right times instead of being cheap and overused. It creates interesting puzzles instead of just fearmongering with really easy puzzles for a couple hours. Also I love how when you don't play the game correctly and just blitz through it fast, it literally tells you that you are playing it wrong. Play this blind.
ive known sw64 since the legacy version and i still love this game to this day. cant wait for hi09.
Yes, it IS worth your time. If possible, i recommend playing this game while having 2 monitors ^^
a really basic game story-wise, but gameplay-wise i LOVED thinking outside the box -- most puzzles were super fun to do and it also scared the ♥♥♥♥ out of me BADDD. main concern here is the obvious padding used (especially the plaza part) where after a few repetitive tasks instead of horror u just feel annoyance, these moments kind of ruined the atmosphere for the rest of the game. not a bad horror experience overall though, definitely worth it for the scares and puzzles that are ACTUALLY puzzles ! (wowzer right?)
