Sheepy: A Short Adventure is a free to play 2D platformer with a creepy story and a surprisingly nice atmosphere. You play as Sheepy, a strange creature that wakes up in an abandoned underground facility and has to explore the place to find out what happened. The biggest strength of the game is the atmosphere. Even though Sheepy looks like a cute little character, the world around him is dark and unsettling. The abandoned buildings, strange creatures and background sounds make the game feel like something much more serious is going on. The platforming is simple and easy to understand. You can run, jump and move through the different areas without having to learn complicated controls. The game also has some light puzzles and exploration, which helps break up the platforming. The story is probably the most interesting part. You slowly find notes and other clues that explain what happened to the facility and why Sheepy is there. It does not give you every answer straight away, so there is a reason to keep exploring. The art style also works really well. It has a pixel art look that gives the game a creepy but charming appearance. Sheepy himself looks funny compared to the darker environments, which makes the character stand out. The biggest problem is the length. It really is a short adventure and you can finish it fairly quickly. There is not a huge amount of content once you have completed the story. Some of the platforming can also feel a little basic. If you are looking for a difficult platformer with lots of mechanics, this probably will not be enough. Overall, Sheepy: A Short Adventure is a really good free game for anyone who likes short atmospheric adventures. The story and creepy setting are the main reasons to play it, and the fact that it is free makes it easy to recommend. Rating: 8/10
