Sheepy: A Short Adventure

Atmospheric. Beautiful. Unexpected. Sheepy: A Short Adventure is one of those games I started without expecting much and ended up really enjoying. For a short, completely free game, the amount of care put into it is impressive. The pixel art looks beautiful, the environments have a great atmosphere, and the world has this strange mix of cute, dark, and mysterious that works surprisingly well. The gameplay is simple but enjoyable. The platforming feels smooth, exploration is fun, and there are enough secrets and little details to make you want to look around instead of simply rushing to the end. The story is another highlight. It doesn't explain everything immediately, which makes you curious about what's actually happening and gives the world a deeper feeling than you'd expect from such a short game. And the soundtrack deserves special mention. It fits the atmosphere incredibly well and makes certain moments feel much more memorable. It's short, but I don't see that as a negative. It tells its story, gives you a fun little adventure, and doesn't overstay its welcome. For a free indie game, Sheepy is genuinely impressive.
