The first intense conflict of the Cold War, this war is very often forgotten, its very rapid and dynamic but unknown aspect obliterated by months of stagnation following the first year of operations in Korea. Can you make it remembered?

Buyer beware - the main campaign of this game has campaign-breaking issues, & dev support ranges from questionable to non-existent. It was clearly not playtested. First off, I was stoked for this one. I love indie strategy covering forgotten conflicts & have a personal connection to the Korean War. Presentation is actually pretty solid for this genre. Tinkering with the limited scenarios - FWIW the small scenarios are just limited portions of the regular map & fewer turns, not hand-designed missions - everything looked promising aside from a brain-dead AI that you have to go out of your way not to exploit. But the main campaign is literally broken in multiple aspects, to the point of being unfinish-able. There are multiple threads about this in the discussion boards for the curious. My impression is there was an original dev (Korean language) who disappeared from the picture. When the issues were brought to SGS's attention, apart from long periods of silence we got mostly defensive replies from a SGS superfan who was promoted to some form of Community Ambassador but had no actual insider knowledge, and a different SGS dev who didn't seem to have strong familiarity with the game & declared he didn't have time to playtest these issues. IMO they seemed more interested in defending SGS's honor than troubleshooting so we'd have a fully playable main campaign. After over a year of this, they did eventually issue a quick fix for one of the game-breaking issues. Unfortunately b/c they chose the most basic fix, it caused the opposite trouble and also revealed another campaign-breaking problem. All these should easily have been caught in testing, or even just a quick dev discussion about the game's mechanics & their consequences. You may ask, why all the positive reviews then? Looking closer at the hours though, most are early impressions. It's a big game, so took me about 30-40 hours of tinkering & testing to realize the campaign was busted. I doubt you'll find too many 50+ hour reviewers (there are always a few folks who houserule & muddle thru the problems), which is unusual for a decent game in this genre. Between this & their NATO game, I'm not impressed with SGS's quality assurance or communications. The main NATO dev even admitted they had been going for a "quantity over quality" (his words) release strategy. It's not even the $$ spent on these products that gets me, it's the hours wasted trying to get them to work when the devs themselves say they can't be bothered. FWIW if SGS ever issues a major update that fixes these issues (and ideally makes the AI aware of basic game mechanics too) I'll gladly change this review. The potential is there.

离奇,一共买了开发者Strategy Game Studio制作的九款兵棋。虽然玩的时间不算多一共加起来才600个小时左右,但好歹也是正版玩家。突然之间要求需要注册码才能登录是什么意思?
My last SGS game I think. They're fun and flavourful, but they really don't hold up to scrutiny. This has an unfinished feel, its buggy like the others and there are many oversights that lead to the game becoming an annoying wreak (such as the UN player being able to massively overstack pusan due to how reinforcements work, and its definitely not intentional).
希望制作组能坚持真理,尊重历史客观性,虽然很难,但感谢你们制作这款游戏。 玩久了AI其实还是有点傻的,难度较低。 While it is no easy task to narrate history in an impartial and objective way, I firmly believe there are quite a few people like me who gain insights into historical events through historical simulation games such as this one. Therefore, I sincerely hope that the development team will strive to uphold the truth and respect objective historical facts — and in fact, I have already seen tangible results in some of your practices. For if your game unfortunately contains any oversights, it could truly lead players to form distorted perceptions of real historical events.
