You're a security officer deep within Area 51. Scan the staff, verify clearances, and decide who can enter the elevator and who absolutely mustn't leave. The deeper you go, the less certain you are that anyone standing before you is still human.
Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Security 51 is an atmospheric security guard simulator inspired by Papers, Please, and SCP paranoia. You're on duty in the underground bunker of Area 51, where the most dangerous part begins at the elevator: the shaft descends for miles down to unknown levels. Whether it's laboratories, anomalies, inhumane experiments, or something alien—you're not supposed to know. Your task is simple: let in those who have access and stop those who don't... even if everything looks "right" on the surface.
Everyone who passes through your checkpoint carries papers and passes. Your job is to check names, positions, clearance levels, and time, ensuring the number of people entering and leaving matches, and pay attention to any oddities. As time passes you'll catch yourself thinking that something's wrong more and more, and the only thing to rely on will be the protocols. But even they can be wrong.
With experience, you'll gain increasingly more accurate methods of identity verification, such as blood testing. Did that janitor simply open the wrong door, or are they a spy for an enemy government? Or are they not even human? When in doubt, quarantine the suspect. Sometimes you'll make mistakes and lock up an ordinary employee, and sometimes you'll find a titanium cell ripped open from the inside. Some decisions will have immediate consequences, others only after several shifts.
The consequences of every mistake go far beyond issues in the workplace. Let the wrong person out, and the infection will ravage the city. Isolate suspicious employees, investigate anomalies, and launch new operations to contain the threat before it's too late.
Remember, it's not just about who you let in, but who or what you let out into the world.

Pretty much the only game that comes anywhere close to Papers Please, while at the same time not being a total ripoff. So without a doubt I'd recommend it. But for me the thing I don't really like about this game is the tone. It feels too silly, and I'm not talking about the ghosts, strange entities, diseases, cyborgs, etc. No, what I'm talking about is the lack of story. One of the things that made Papers Please interesting was that *sometimes* you'd have these micro-moral decisions, where someone would come up to you with a sob story to let them pass or not let a particular person pass. A choice of whether you stick to the rules or you let your humanity show. There were more than a few characters who you'd encounter that behaved uniquely than just the regular passerby which made things interesting. And your interaction with your employer/supervisors was also interesting. I remember you could literally lose the game just because you'd hang the wrong thing on the wall. There isn't really any of that in Security 51. It focuses more on the memorization and puzzle-solving aspect of what made Papers Please interesting... there's like more than a dozen more things to check before letting a person pass, but imo that doesn't make up for the lack of atmosphere. Right now all the passerbys feel random and goofy and their traits have no impact on their behavior to the player You'd see someone with a missing brain and there's nothing more to say other than 'lolwut?' I guess what I'm saying even tho there are all these supernatural things going on why does everyone just act the same?

Honestly a very fun Papers Please-like game! If you enjoy that sort of game play loop then this is a pretty similar one.

I think if I hadn't left this game open while I was cooking dinner one day I would request a refund through the automated system that refunds games at 2 hour or less playtime. The visuals are great, but the pacing doesn't allow the player to investigate very far. The "end game" play loop does not seem to have any clear incentive. I bought this game when it was on sale for around $8 and only got 3 or so hours out. Cool concept, just needs more flesh on the bone. Also, just as a note, the sandwich and the coffee, two of the earliest "food" items you have access to near the beginning are just the best in dollars spent, there's no reason to buy anything else. Of the "papers, please" - likes I've played this one has probably the most interesting concept with just an awful brevity in actual content loops. Don't recommend it right now - might revisit it if they add more.
