About
Sector Space is a cozy top-down single player space sandbox with retro graphics. The game takes place in a procedurally generated world with a seamless travel system. Each world represents a single galaxy in the void with hundreds of star systems and points of interest for the player to visit.
Characters pilot their own ship and depending on the chosen character class (profession) may have up to 6 fleet ships. As the character levels up they may select various secondary skills to further specialize and improve their ship. Skills are automatically passed onto your fleet ships but at a reduction proportional to their level. The primary means of upgrading and progressing is through selection of gear and ships of increasing tier level. The game contains hundreds of items which may have modifiers applied enhancing their function.
The character's ship and fleet can be moved between world files allowing you to generate different "galaxies" to explore. Most resources are renewable so typically you only need to play on one world. Some locations are unique and present in all generated galaxy although their position may change.
A world (galaxy) is divided up into a grid with each cell being a "sector". Characters can move from sector to sector continuously or take advantage of jump drives, jump gates, and wormholes to move larger distances. A sector can be an entire asteroid field, star system, nebula etc. There are combat areas and anomalous regions with more challenging enemies and better item drops. The character may be visited by NPC or ambushed in a random encounter while they move through dangerous regions of space. Make use of NPC stations and resources to progress, additionally characters may deploy their own stations and fortify the area with drones to protect against hostile invaders.
The typical game loop consists of levelling and acquiring gear through combat or gathering resources and crafting items which will also grant experience towards levelling up. Players can mine asteroids, refining the ore into pure elements and then craft components which are used in the construction of items and ships. Additional resources may be extracted from planets and colonies. Item's can vary in price by region and fluctuate over time which can make trading between stations a viable source of credits.

Hey man (Dev), please keep working on this, its one of my favorite games of all times, it runs nicely even on low performance machines, its fun and you can decide how much time you spend, 15Minutes? No biggie, 16 Hours? Still entertained! Im going to check out the 0.6, im stoked for the update, especially the fleet ships, i read they now follow correctly. This game has a huge potential, really love it!
Had lots of fun with this game. Had to learn lot of the fly but i look forward to what's to come. Many ship you can buy or build and you can make colony's and stations. Everything is level cap, mixed feelings on that but it does force you to enjoy the game more and the game fun so i personally don't mind.

Game works very well in early access. Some of the fundamental game mechanics could use a refining pass (e.g. QoL like shift click and select all options, basic sorting options for cargo management, some fleet formation options etc...). It's too early to expect really nuanced or advanced game mechanics (e.g. custom crafting chains or 'crew' options). I'm hopeful and sure these sorts of game mechanics will come with time. Combat is well designed with only minor quirks for managing your fleet, most advancements encourage exploration and combat for component loot drops which motivates the player to keep going, and the variety of NPCs are broad enough to keep it interesting. The rock/paper/scissors choices largely make sense. Very enjoyable and certainly worth the investment given the ridiculous low price. Kudo's to the developer.
Bugs, only one dev, no full time development, and very slow updates.
Fun! Slow to start but ramps up!
A hidden gem of a space RPG. Very much reminds me of the early Escape Velocity series games. An open world where you can explore and make your own story out of it.
Berry good, much wow.
the level of autism in ui design is a crime to humanity
there's the start of a good game in here, but it crashes seemingly randomly every few hours and inventory management takes a lot of time.
It is in Early Access as of now, but this game is quite fun to play around in, there are quite a few different ships that you can acquire either through buying or crafting. There are a number of crafting materials that are not easily obtained unless you venture out into hostile space, but otherwise, there are a number of quests you can complete when you start out. At the moment, for new players, mining ores is quite possibly the best way to earn credits, it can be a bit slow, but it is definitely worth doing if you want higher tier ships. The Templar class is proving to be a worth while choice for starters, as I am a Templar in-game, it is fairly balanced.
