A hardcore deductive reasoning game for fans of the “true crime” genre. Only by unraveling the logic and grasping at the motivations behind each case can the crimes be completely solved. Perfect as a social-style mystery fiction.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Sep 3 → 0.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Set in the near future, you play as a trainee in pursuit of becoming a licensed investigator. Presented with a set of reconstructed case files that border between challenging and perplexing, your goal is to solve them and pass the test. Your only tools are your keen perception, astute thinking and mental acuity. Can you solve them all?
Scene Investigators is a hardcore deductive reasoning game that leans heavily on keen observation, filling in the missing gaps, looking for motives when they aren't seemingly there, and coming up with several plausible assumptions to progress through the investigation.
The game is tailored to fans of detective films, the true crime genre, escape room puzzles and especially for those who love the challenge of solving cases.
You are to observe each scene carefully and analyze everything on site. There is no handholding or hints. Take notes on anything that stands out and write down your suspicions as you navigate through the crime scene.
Piece everything together, not only to understand what happened but also the connection between the perpetrators and their victims. Your only tools are your keen perception, mental sharpness, and real-life wisdom.
You may find that some evidence is missing, limiting you from making the best conclusion. There might be 70% of the evidence in the case, but the other 30% is nowhere to be found. This is where you have to fill in the missing gaps, trust your gut-feelings and make smart, calculated assumptions.
Notice the pink lipstick on the wine glass? What about the trajectory of the bullet on the wall? How about the faint size-12 boot marks on the windowsill? These are part of the environmental clues that can help piece the story together.
It’s more fun to solve when you have someone to discuss your findings with - a friend, a significant other, or even the whole family! Scene Investigators is perfect for this and it is our hope that you can enjoy this game with others. They might spot something you missed in your investigation, and vice versa.

A Note for The Painscreek Killings Fans...
In terms of gameplay, Scene Investigators is quite a departure from our first game, The Painscreek Killings. TPK focuses heavily on the story and uses a rather simple 'breadcrumb' system for its gameplay, one that allows players to continue their investigation whenever they pick up a clue. Scene Investigators, on the other hand, leans heavily on keen observation, filling in the missing gaps, looking for motives when they aren't there, and coming up with a number of possible assumptions in order to solve the case.
In short, The Painscreek Killings is a story-rich game while Scene Investigators is a deduction reasoning game.
Sums Steam only; GOG publishes no volume signal, so the true total is higher by an unknown amount.

Really fun and immersive game! I enjoy taking my time with the cases, take notes and come up with theories and conclusions. The cases are also very well thought out, and I find myself always enjoying the background stories of the victims 10/10
喜欢前几章拼凑线索推出答案的玩法,后面的失踪案稍有些繁琐要记录的东西太多不是很喜欢,希望不要在这个方面加强度,更多注重分析推理
This is a great detective game that requires you to think for yourself and make logical assumptions based on the evidence collected, not leaps of logic that make no sense. Well worth it at a slight discount. Best played with someone else to bounce ideas off and help you keep track of things. We finished the game but finished it on a different account using family sharing therefore my playtime is low.

This game has potential, but unlike the developer's previous game, you get no story here with this and you kind of have to deduce your own story from the evidence given. Unfortunately, the game doesn't actually explain ANYTHING to you. You don't even get to know who the victim is (no details at all!). You'll get a chalk outline of a body (featureless, of course). You can find clues in a relatively small area and deduce that you think might have happened, but even if you're right, the game doesn't explain why you're right. For several of the missions, I found very confusing as it seemed to point in one direction, but I was completely wrong despite very close observation of the evidence and the game doesn't actually explain to you why you were wrong, what motives were (sometimes the clues seem to be deliberate red herrings). There's no witness statements, no one to talk to. You'll get a situation premise like "Neighbour called police" but you don't get to speak to the neighbour or read any kind of statement. It's vague. It wants you to figure out who the killer was, the victim, who was there, etc. But it doesn't want you to know why the killing occurred. It just wants you to find answers without any story attached to it, so it feels unfulfilling. By comparison, Painscreek Killings was so absolutely story rich and deeply engaging. I played it over three days and even when I wasn't playing it, I was thinking about the evidence and the story. However, with this game...I was bored half an hour in. It's just not satisfying to play at all. I hope the developers make a proper sequel to Painscreek Killings (not related to the story itself, obviously, but a game very much like it that has a complex story that branches out and that you have to find the truth about. I don't recommend this game unless you just want to solve crime with no attachment to the "why".
I really enjoyed that. Played on detective mode and had a good time. I found the "Missing" case to be uncomfortably dark story-wise but the puzzle of it was good and I can't deny it engaged me. "Bloodbath" was easily my favorite case in terms of the puzzle. I think this kind of game is definitely either your cup of tea or its not. The store description for the game does a good job of explaining what you're in for. You can't brute force these puzzles. You're not going to find the one piece that spells out the answer. You have to bring yourself in and engage and hypothesize with the evidence and if that's not something you enjoy then this isn't your kind of game. I would also say to pay attention to the mature themes warning. There's triggering stuff in here if you have certain sensitivities, particularly in "Missing".
